Lucky. I was in bed for nearly three weeks, constantly short of breath and still haven't fully recovered.
Hope you are better now buddy? sorry to hear about your situation.
Not entirely. I'm improving, but the shortness of breath hasn't entirely gotten better. It's not debilitating but it's noticeable.
crap! hang in there...have you looked into treatments?

Has anyone been seen standing up in favor of fascism?
So telling the kid not to hurt others with his breath is a travesty but what if he were a healthy carrier? I'm sorry for your brittle sensibilities but this kid could be killing other kids. Just the same way he's got ASD, anyone else could have any other condition.
It's a matter of life & death so put the f*****g masks on or admit your indifference towards who might die if you don't.
The regular flu is also deadly and can be spread when you're asymptomatic. Will you be wearing a mask at all times in public for the rest of your life? Didn't think so.
Totally agree with you.
And don't forget the threat of being struck by lightning should everybody wear a personal lighting rod when out and about I mean it is the only way to be safe.
I remember when I joined this board and was reading the difference between us and NTs but I have to say there are plenty of sheeple here also.
My job has just introduced mandatory masks for all.
I have told them my ASD makes me exempt and I will not be wearing the stupid thing for 8 to 10 hours a day.
And those people saying you might kill somebody give me a break.
How many people die in road accidents every year selfish people driving on non essential journeys.
I mean where do we stop?
I am not wearing any mask for anybody the sooner we all go back to normal the better.
How many people will die as a result of all the job losses?

The survival rate is 99.9% for the seasonal flu and 99.4% for Covid-19 when you include the elderly which is a difference of only 0.5%.
If indeed your numbers above were accurate, what they would actually mean is that 0.6% of people who get COVID die from it, whereas only 0.1% of people who get the flu die from it. In other words, people who get COVID are 6 times as likely to die from it as people who get the flu.
Anyhow, what is the source of your numbers?
According to the WHO site as of today, the current "global situation" is "37,888,384 Confirmed Cases" and "1,081,868 Deaths." These numbers would seem to imply that the death rate from COVID is 2.85%. Of course, that's probably not an accurate estimate either, because nobody knows how many unconfirmed cases there are.
Be that as it may, the really big problem with COVID is not just its own death rate, but the fact that, if measures are not taken to slow its spread, it gets a lot of people sick enough that they need to go to the hospital, completely overwhelming the healthcare system so that people with other conditions can't get treatment. Thus, besides the people killed by COVID itself, a lot of other people would be killed by other conditions that they are unable to get treatment for because of rampant COVID.

People get COVID all the year long.
People only tend to get the flu around the winter months.
The death rate from COVID is about 5 times that of the flu. Many, many people who would have not died of the flu are dying from COVID.
There are "excess deaths" in many areas of the world. Caused by COVID.

Personally I hope we NEVER go back to the previous "normal." My hope is that the COVID crisis will force lots of businesses (and government offices) to get accustomed to working remotely, and that they will continue to work remotely (because it's cheaper and easier) after it's all over. I hope that all jobs that CAN be done from home will continue to be done from home (or at least mostly from home, with in-person meetings maybe once or twice per week).
Hopefully schools can become an in-person thing again, or at least optionally so, but there are lots of office jobs, programming jobs, etc. that can be done just fine from home and will hopefully continue to be done from home.
This would greatly reduce both fuel consumption and traffic jams in the long run.

What's necessary is to find ways to revive the economy despite the need for as many people as possible to stay home as much as possible. In the era of the Internet, surely this can be done.
EDIT:

We do have laws against reckless driving, and against driving while intoxicated and driving while under the influence of various drugs. Do you want to get rid of those laws too?
