Who trusts a woman who jiggled her breasts for money - and now thinks she's some sort of medical expert?!?

I think that I can now validly claim that the scientific literature (well one Wikipedia entry) shows that breast enhancement is a precursor to autism in ones offspring.

It'll be interesting 20 years or so down the road, when today's kids write their autobiographies. I'm especially looking forward to what Evan McCarthy has to say about his mother's....um, "zeal" on the subject of vaccines.

I don't think they believe her. I think the idea gets it's publicity from her visibility and loud voice--and underneath avoidance of vaccines is not a researched rationale but a dark fear. A dark fear of misery from lack of connection and function. Both for their child and their relationship with their child.

I'm not too found of Jenny McCarthy for, she is one whom tries to gain funds in finding & developing a so-called cure for autism and the entire spectrum probably too. Personally, I've come to understand that I'm different from people in various ways but, I'm still human though therefore, I'd rather be allowed to remain human..

Dark_Red_Beloved, the picture in your avatar reminds me of artwork from Brian Froud's

booked called,"Faeries" other than this I have nothing else to offer at this moment..

That's because it is from Brian Froud's Book Faeries! You know, you're one of the first people to get the reference.Nicely done!

My avatar is Leanan-Sidhe. Considered a blood-sucking vampire on the Isle of Man and muse of poets in Ireland--but I'm getting off topic. The fact of the matter is that the cure dance and debate will go on for quite some time after we're finished talking here. Some will continue to see autism as a horrible monster to be destroyed at all costs,Others will come to see autism in ways that will inspire different reactions entirely...

Well put; it seems to be going in that direction anyway.

And now Jenny McCarthy is spokesperson for a fitness game for the Wii? I know that has NOTHING to do with autism, but thought I'd throw it out there anyway.

Not buying or playing that game. Also why I stopped playing Command and Conquer: Red Alert series after I found out she was the voice actor for Agent Tanya.

Thanks for warning me about that fitness game. I won't be buying that game. She expects everybody to be prefect in her own eyes, and she thinks that autism is a blemish on Earth's Face of Perfection. I hope she dies of anorexia.

*nods* Some people are able to change their minds with new information, some will remain belligerent, aggressive and small-minded as ever. The question then remains how to inspire thought and disarm fear in those that can accept new ideas. Jenny doesn't help in either of these arenas. So how would one go about maneuvering around her?

Thoughts?

Dark_Red_Beloved, That's a question that I find not easy to answer though, I feel the best way to deal with Jenny Mccarthy and those that follow her path is simply best to understand that autism and it's many variants should not be seen as something terrible nor the end of the world either.Rather a different way of loooking and interacting with the world...

Why manuver around her when we can plow over her, preferably with a large vehicle?

Haha, just kidding.

Still, if we discredit her BS on autism with some cold hard facts, that will turn the intellectuals; you know, the people that actually do their homework? As for the sheeple who don't, not much is gonna change that except for a skillet upside the head... and unfortuately that's illegal. Can't blame a guy for wanting to, though.

Aspies and Auties don't follow the herd. We actually want the truth and if it's unpopular we don't freaking care, we still want the TRUTH. As a previous poster said, Jenny's son was probably misdiagnosed. Landau Kleffner syndrome is not widely known and some of the symptoms can appear to be consistent with Autism. However, many of the LK kids will recover with no real intervention when the seizures stop. I've seen kids with other seizure disorders "recover" lots of stuff when the seizures stop and they can stop taking preventive medications. Jenny means well, I assume, but she's leading lots of parents down a dangerous road because those therapies won't have the same results. Really, if Jenny's kid has LK syndrome, then the therapies didn't actually do anything for him either.

NT's have a strong tendency to follow the herd. It's their 'special interest.' They do alot of things because so-and-so said so. And our ASD kiddos are a direct threat to their herd mentality. They think WE are the inflexible ones. Try getting a classic NT teacher to change their teaching practices for an ASD kid. Talk about inflexible.

Honestly, you can't maneuver around her. You have to go over her and destroy her arguments with positivity, compassion, love and the accepting of others. She's deceptive and negative, so she's constantly in the way of progress for the rest of us.

You have to remove her cover and expose her to the light, so that everyone can see the reality instead of the fraudulent facade she portrays.
