Well I doubt your blonde hair 'made' you oblivious.

Yes but it is funny because I was having consistent blonde moments as the saying goes. Yet the moments never seemed to go away. :P 8O

I do not think my having mental problems that make life difficult is on the same level a rather inaccurate and not very serious stereotype about blonde hair. its not just a trivial thing so its hard for me to compare it to that sort of thing.

True. And it's not at all an argument in support of autism supremacy.

See my post before that cited

"Basic strategy in setting ones value in the labour market is to start with a high asking price and let the market set your value but starting with a low price is a recipe for disaster.

Same thing applies here, a supremicist viewpoint is a logical opening ambit.

Whether or not the world will "buy it" is another matter."

I think that belief in your worth and competitive value is essential if one is to get what one wants.

Even if I buy that idea regarding setting one's value in the labor market, that still doesn't support autism suppremacy. That supports saying "I'm valuable because I have qualities N, X, Z, and R". Not saying "I have autism and that makes me better than people without autism". My only problem with what you say is your claim that it supports autism supremacy.

I have this same problem with gay pride. In my mind, pride is an emotion you should feel for an accomplishment, something you've achieved. I'm fine with the idea of being proud of how well you've coped with your difference (I for one am damned proud of how well I fit in), but being proud simply of BEING autistic (or glbt) is no different in my eyes from being proud of being white or black or straight or American or anything you didn't choose for yourself.

I'm gay and an aspie.

Gay pride to me doesn't mean being proud of being gay - it means being not ashamed of being gay and being proud of having overcome obstacles and prejudices.

I think pride in being autie or an aspie is much the same - it means not being ashamed of being autistic/aspie and being proud of having overcome obstacles and prejudices.

The nonsense about supremacy, next evolutionary step, and aliens is ridiculous. I think much of it is an knee-jerk reaction to having been put down and mocked, but we should get past it.

I don't think there is any reason to be ashamed of having autism nor do many at all project this type of understanding. At the same time pride to me for a disorder label is not something I enjoy in my life. Especially if the pride makes people think it's a great thing to have as if I should seek to experience relating hardships and effecting how serious it is taken in society. To me it would be a bit self-centered. Gay does not effect how one functions in the world in a disability sense. It's simply a sexuality whereas autism is a disability. There is much more to a person then autism.

Facepalm- who in their right mind would offer to run a planet with seven billion fractious (many) nuclear armed irrational human inhabitants?

That's the first test of comprehension and ability, anyone that puts forward for the job doesn't get it because they don't grasp what it would involve .

The idea of Aspie global supremacy is nuttier than me running a local 24 hour store.

Someone should make a comedy film like The Four Lions about it, it would be hilarious.

Some people should get another special interest.

Maybe we build some earth-human problem solving supercomputer or a race of benign sensible cyborgs instead.

I do not often think of those things. It would seem others are paid to handle those issues. Like the CIA, FBI and Department of Defense. I do not think it requires my worry though I like Carl Sagan as he proposes methods to get off this rock.

Look it is a video of him. Hundred thousands and millions of worlds. Of a world filled of hatred and conflicts.

Maybe the reality is somewhere between NASA Disney and the above.

Shame NASA's been cut though.

Just to remind you of the sheer exhilleration of that vision here's a film I used to watch with my kids. A bunch of kids get to go to space camp, Their teacher is an ex shuttle pilot. She blags her class seats on board when they test fire the shuttles engines... Call me childish but I still think this is brilliant.
