Exactly, Andro.

If people want to see me as a jerk, fine. I use to know people like aspie, and let me just say, life doesn't get better. They keep the same misanthropic attitude their whole life and it's a vicious ugly cycle.

Usually time is on my side as far as fitting in is concerned. Years ago the mechanical engineers called me gullible for using synthetic snake oil in my car and vowed to void my warranty. Now synthetic snake oil is the fad and it is required for warranty coverage.

Aspie48 isn't being misanthropic and you have no reason to say so. Also androbot just insulted your kind and it flew right over your head.

Yes the cure for autism is learning how to hold back technology until people are ready for change.

well things don't get better. you don't understand. people's perceptions of being gay have changed. thats because fundamentally gays aint all that different. autistic people will not be accepted for a long while, and may never be.

The reason why things don't change is because by the time society accepts my way of thinking I will adopt an even more radical position and I will hve to wait decades for society to catch up.

I am sure they will. In the meantime we need to buckle up and get to work making a place for ourselves.

well, you really have to fight the tide to do that. the point of this thread was not to be pessimistic or teen angst, as some have suggested, it was just to say that most people are jerks to us, and that will not change.

True. And now that this is asserted we shall not dwell on it and actually get to making these thoughts irrelevant and stupid-looking.

There have been people in my old school that thought and still think I am ret*d. However it is importent to realize that some people may be just curious, some of the females in my old school admired me for what makes me stand out. but would never ever go out with me  , Never! there were people who admired me for who I was but still gave me a hard time beacuse they feelt they needed to. and then there were rare people who thought I was greater then I actully was.
My favorite people were the ones that teased me. When they really looked up to me, and let me know one way or another  .
NTs can be great people, just like we can!

Ok well I can tell the difference between teasing and bullying. I really hate the people who think I'm ret*d. There are very few people at my school who do respect me for who I am, and they also have AS. I only hang out with other aspies because trying to fit in with NTs is just too painful. I tried for years in middle school when there were not enough aspies to hang out with. That experience is not one I would like to go through again.

Your lucky that there are other aspies to hang out with, I just get to hang out by my self to this day.
But I know what you mean about hanging out with NTs. There mean and competitive nature is something I don't like and understand. One day I decided to eat lunch and hang out with the girls in my class (that was quite interesting).
But you are not alone on the people who think we are ret*d, when someone treats me like a 3 year old, that just sets me off.

When I was young I was asked several times (Mostly by adults) if I was ret*d. Even to this day people seem to think I am stupid. In high school I got really good grades and got into the IB program...people around me said, "if she got in then it must be easy" (Ironically majority of them did not get into the program) Oh, and let me not forget that when I am listening, I generally dont respond....this doesnt mean I dont comprehend what you are saying! ugh. I also tend to use the wrong words or switch words around when speaking. There have been times mid convo that I have completely forgotten the topic of conversation.

oh talk about being set off. i had this one teacher who talked down to me and made fun of me all during class even after i told her to stop. so i bullied her right back. gosh that was fun  there was not much she could do about it cuz she did some things first. i won back the respect of the whole class.

yes i used to upstage my math teacher. The teacher bragged that he could construct a triangle with three 90 degree corners and I constructed a triangle with three 300 degree corners.
