Conspiracy theorists are the lynch mob mentioned above. They don't know, so they theorize and if an idea sounds plausible, to them it becomes a fact to be acted on, not an idea to be tested against reality as science does
Lynch mobs are very scary things- once they taste blood they feed off eachother's bloodlust and cannot be reasoned with. It's like a poison it's best to try just avoid it.
