Exactly, like some of these yuppies thinking their children are little einsteins, its pure nonsense, its like these people think their progeny are the second coming

My only interest in any form of mysticism (other than warning of the myriad horrors they routinely unleash upon humanity) is in cataloging the various classic cognitive errors and biases employed by their adherents.

The history of mysticism is a virtual taxonomy of cognitive pathology.

What is it with all this new age crap, my little sister is into reiki and when I finally told I have AS, she go's "oh wow your an Indigo Child" then she tried to send her healing energy to me, I felt real bad, because I asked her which direction I should face, she lives about 300km north from where I live, I wasn't to sure if I would get any good reception, but I didn't ask her if I needed a tin foil hat to improve my reception. I love my sister, but she's got some of the strangest beliefs, at least she's harmless. What really concerns me is people trying to push this load of crap film, called The Secret, which espouses things like sending out positive thoughts, you WILL attract wealth and money, and cure any condition, including aspregers, it will also kill cancer, no doubt including the person with cancer. Its all lies to get money from gullible fools, who sadly think there is a magic cure to all their problems, and in this day were anyone can go on the internet and look up any sort of information on this quackery, it amazes me just how stupid and uninformed the human race is becoming.

Um...I believe in the Secret. And I don't believe the human is becoming stupid, it's evolving and getting smarter. Honestly, if you really look close enough at religion, you would find that it actually tells you about Law of Attraction and such. I have used the Secret and it actually does work. I would kindly suggest that you and some other people on this site should be more open to it. It sounds scary at first, I know, because people are afraid of their own power. As weird as that might sound, it's true.

I am surrounded by people that believe in the western faiths and I find it very rigid and a way to get people in fear so the government and people in political power. I unfortunately did buy into it for awhile. I have been feeling very empty with this mind set, and the eastern, right sided style seems to balance it all. So I am trying to get back to it, but it is a bit hard, especially since almost everyone around you would completely try to brain wash you to think like them.

Please don't be offended by my post. That's simply my opinion, it's okay if you completely disagree, it's just absolutely sad when people bash ideas and opinions that other people have because they think it's weird and are afraid of it. I admit, I am afraid of western belief because it seems to feed on ego and can be completely self-destructive.

uhhmm The Secret is a Massive fraud, it blames the victim for being poor or sick, it is all about greed and wanting things, by thinking positive thoughts, Yes I have watched this film, it looks like it was made by a bunch of Amway sales executives. It is nothing but a pack of lies, designed to cheat people with a bunch of New Age crap, that is making false claims of curing the sick of their illnesses, with false promises of fantastic wealth, this is not only preposterous, its criminal and dangerous. I have absolutely no problem with thinking positive, but I can see a scam and the secret is one of the biggest scams going, unfortunately the loudest proportionates of the secret are the most gullible and brainwashed people around.

I don't know about any "secret" to get everything you want, but if you are thinking not only of your own benefit but of those around you too I believe the universe provides what you "need" in unexpected and uplifting ways.

I don't think the Indigo Children is really related to that, IIRC this has been separate and some were suggesting a corellation.

I'm into all that new age stuff so yeah, I like the Indigo theory. It means I'm evolved, yeah 8)

If you're not into that stuff, don't pay it any mind any more than you would a religion you don't believe in. Let those who do enjoy it.

It's not exactly the most psychiatric or scientific label, but, hell, anything is better than being bombarded with a bunch of DSM crap.

According to some new-age theorists and psychics, "indigo children" represent the new wave of human developement. They say these people usually have a higher sense of emotion, higher sense of empathey and intuition, sense of spirituality, sense of insatiable (sic) curiosity, and so on. I've read places that many people labeled as ADD or Asperger may really be indigo. They say that aspies have a lack of empathy, but that's not true. Narcissists lack empathy. Aspies (depending on the aspie) care about other genuinely. They may just have a hard time applying their emotions to the exact social situation. For instance, an aspie may say something to you that you find hurtful even though the aspie didn't mean it to be hurtful. When the aspie realizes he hurt your feelings, he may feel truly sorry. A narcissist doesn't really give a sh** whether or not he hurts you. Anyway, here are some articles on "indigo children". Tell me what you think.

What you just explained (didn't click on links yet) describes me well. I do get tired of people acting as though aspies have no humor and lack empathy. I've told jokes alot to where others did not get it and got angry with me.

Don't confuse care and compassion with empathy; ASDs have an impairment in empathy, from none at all to a delay in feeling it for example.

"Identifying oneself completely with an object or person, sometimes even to the point of responding physically, as when, watching a baseball player swing at a pitch, one feels one's own muscles flex."

"Direct identification with, understanding of, and vicarious experience of another person's situation, feelings, and motives."

I had to look up empathy.

I do not always understand people's motives. I have lived a life of gaining knowledge and learning what it's like to be in several types of situations. Sometimes I can tell when someone is not a good person however I do have a delayed reaction to what people are trying to do and say that is actually mean-spirited.

The term itself empathy leaves me confused. I was told in the past empathy simply meant you can relate to someone's situation because you have been there too. Is that not what empathy means?

That's sympathy. Empathy is kinda like a lie, but with feelings instead of words, i.e., you feel the emotional state of another, even though you haven't walked in their shoes.

People with ASDs have difficulty in putting themselves in the shoes of others, from not at all to an impaired amount of such.
