Hi everyone!

I know that requests for research participants aren't exactly everyone's favourite thing - but the researcher is a good guy and also this research has zero to do with cures or aversives or anything like that - so I promised I'd post here to see if anyone was interested.....

The research is happening at the University of Sussex (very near Brighton) so this is only really aimed at our England residents (or anyone who is on holiday and fancies a quick scan.....) :P

Dr. Beacher and Dr. Critchley are conducting a study into how the brains of people with Asperger Syndrome or High Functioning Autism process information differently from those with neurotypical brains.

I've participated in this myself and found it very enjoyable and was also emailed a picture of my brain! (Was nice to know I had one!)

They are looking for more females with Asperger Syndrome or HFA as they seem to have found it harder to find female participants. I was wondering if any of you lovely people might be interested? You need to be aged 18-50.

The process takes about 2 hours. The first hour is filling out some very simple questionnaires about how easy or difficult you find socialising and conversations (AQ and EQ stuff) etc. (and chatting to the lovely researchers) and the 2nd hour is in the MRI scanner. You do some very simple computer tests while you're in there. You spend about an hour in the scanner but because you are doing things the whole time it goes very quickly.

People who participate will have their travel expenses reimbursed and will also receive a £30 participation fee and they also buy you lunch!

Also, it would be an opportunity to meet me (if you want to!) :D

If anyone is interested or has any questions, let me know!

I am also looking for females with aspergers syndrome for some not-quite scientific biological experimentation... I'll even buy dinner!

(only half joking... all serious responses from the Tampa Bay area will be considered, and the dinner offer still stands even if you decline the "biological experment" and just want a cool aspie guy to take you out to dinner) :)

CRD: Be certain to order the pricey fancy lobster dish, champagne $$$ and cherries jubilee for dessert. Don't forget that way expensive hors d'oeuvre that no one actually eats. <<< yes, just kidding!

A research evening with me will cost you though.....considered the study (OP) but Lab Pet is Alaskan so basically excluded. In all seriousness, I'm always happy to know of novel research in the field of Autism! Thank you for the notice, girl7000.
