Artistic Autistic Installation in London Tonight!

I am sorry this is all short notice but I only got the word from 'The Curator' today, as a magazine is going to do an article on the Anarchrony in the UK installations tonight, so it's action stations. So should be pictures later on.

There are three telephone boxes behind the Royal Academy, corner of Saville Row and Burlington Gardens just off Regents street.

Tonight around 6, I will be using one as an art installation to actually create The Model Aircraft Museum.
It will be a space that:
Brings The Model Aircraft Museum to life.
Simulates the inside of 'The Aspie's' mind to life.
Emulates the experience of being in your own safe space, and what the world outside looks like when you have Autism.

Why is it called like that?

I'm not sure, but Burlington Gardens are (or at least were) a prostitution area, so this may be the reason for that phrase.

... I've noticed there are many cities where those areas seem to get more and more up-date for exhibitions and artistic works.

The artistic autistic installation did not happen yesterday, because the magazine people asked to delay it for two days.
Therefore, it will happen tomorrow (Thursday) at 6pm.

Sadly during the installation, about 6 last night in the cold, a Policeman knocked at the phone box door and stopped me. I was told to take everything down. A million to one shot i'd be caught but still, they could have prosecuted me later my using the Myspace contact details that were on the material I was going to put up.

So sadly, I was thwarted. However, I now intend to mount a bigger and better one - with my 'screaming machines music' that you can hear on Myspace, somewhere else. I have all the material and art work and messages still intact.

The idea was, you'd enter the phone box and look out. There would be a list of messages to read on each window pane to tell you how to see outside of the box, and how to feel about the inside OUTSIDE THE NOISE IS AGGRESSIVE AND JARRING, INSIDE IT IS THE WAY YOU LIKE IT. OUTSIDE PEOPLE GO REALLY SLOWLY AND MAKE NO SENSE IN THEIR BEHAVIOUR SOMETIMES. INSIDE YOU CAN DETERMINE YOUR OWN RULES AND INTERACTIONS, etc.

There would also be loads of planes and writing from the first Myspace site - the stories of 'The Aspie', my central character. This is the explanation for the installation, also covered in tiny paper cut out aircraft's with coloured wing insignia and schematics and etc to do with model planes:


THE MODEL AIRCRAFT MUSEUM.

This phone box is an art installation and part of the Anachrony in the UK collection of public space art galleries. Please feel free to add to it or take anything away.

The aims of the Model Aircraft Museum is to produce music, songs, images, writing and stories about what it is like to be Autistic.

The box you are inside is meant to simulate the mind of a Person with Autism.

There really is a person in this country who wants to turn an ex main library building, now empty and for sale, into a model aircraft museum. He even rebranded it “Battle of Britain” museum, to try and sell the idea. So the Telephone box is his ‘private inner space’ in which we find repeated details and schematics which are, for most of us, only relevant to someone with an obsession for them.

The Model Aircraft Museum is also a band, consisting of myself and anyone I work with now or in the future. Currently I am collaborating with a drummer who also has a diagnosis for Autism.

I was diagnosed 5 years ago this month at the age of 41, when I entered a global sub-culture of children and adults, all ages, races, sexes and sexualities, nations and human-kinds. This is particularly due to the advent of the Internet. There are even politics around whether to try to cure or not and support and finance for services.

It is my hope that people who have the condition will find what I have done, and be encouraged to do the same.

Actually the area where the phone boxes is, is very very upmarket and posh. Saville Row is the famous street the most expensive tailors in Britain are based. You can tell - all the American's go there.

The magazine people turned up later and took pictures of a man who calls himself Mr. Solo, who is on Myspace and is very good indeed. He put the odd art picture up and I had to look out for the Police all night! No sign. Phew. We took them down and ran for it...
