I would like to see housing & support services for a 40+ something like myself that was recently diagnosed. I am sick of being misdiagnosed as some1 w/ mental illness, which I do not have.

I am 59, and for my entire life I have been wanting someone to take care of me. But here we are now, just doing the best we can. Apart from the exceptional family, society has no real willingness to provide for people it does not consider productive.

The problem is, though, that they expect me to be this totally independent mental patient that takes psych drugs & does EVERYTHING by herself w/ no help whatsoever. I cannot be that person for anyone.

I understand. Some people think a few pills can/should make somebody at least appear to be "normal", and that the person can/should then do just fine after being shown how to do his or her own laundry.

Even before ever making it to here on the wrong planet, I have long felt like an alien in enemy territory. Do the best you can, look for someone else like yourself so the two of you can be helpful to each other -- send me a PM, if you like -- and do not stray too far out into the galaxy on your own.

I think 911 handle that.

Well 911 u just call for the ambulance to pick you up & drop you off at the hospital, period. Beyond that they do nothing but bill you later. I am talking about support while I am in the hospital, because I was in the hospital alone. I vow that had best not happen again. :x Besides, to call an ambulance for a medical emergency, in my experience, the fire department is much better than 911.

in my state there are no services for people with Apserger. you need to have full blown autism to get any kind of help with housing here and then they'll just throw you in a group home so it probably isnt such a good idea to want the help

They should not have to throw me in a group home, I should have a say in what help I need or don't need. If I need moderate help in an apt. program, then that is what I should get w/o a group home. I don't understand what ppl's problem who work in the system is here. I don't know where to get the help.

believe me you dont wanna be in the system. it seems you have internet access so who are you living with now? you'd be much better off providing your own shelter, that way nobody can tell you how to live

I live in an apt. program from Mental Health, which does not provide services. I am not asking anyone to tell me how to live, just to help me when I need it, w/ things I can't do.

Oh man, I know you mean well, but you could not possibly help me w/ when I ever have a medical emergency in the middle of the night & need to go to the ER, things like that. Mental health is only designed for ppl w/ real mental health problems (IE schizophrenia, mood disorders, paranoia, dillusional, halucionations, suicidal, etc.), who were in psych hospitals, who really need psych meds, and the like. I do not have those particular problems, never been in psych wards, and therefore do not need that kind of crap treatment.
