Media representations in various cultures

Hi all

I am a doctoral student researching cultural representations of autism in the West vs developing nations (specifically I study South India). I am in a class on Representations of Mental Illness and we need to develop a project that incorporates medical/clinical studies, visual media, and history on a topic of health or illness. I was thinking about finding popular media references to autism in various cultures and discuss how this relates to that societies current information about and awareness of autism, etc. I know of "My Name is Khan" and the Hindi tv show with a young girl with autism but need more representations in different places. Any suggestions?
