so I am going to get on a touchy subject. A friend and I were talking about protesting autism speaks and he asked me and interesting question.

"What can autism speaks do to redeem theselves in the eyes of the autistic comunity,"

I pause for a secound and so I thought I might ask every ones else what they think and is it possible?

I said

Get autistics on thier board and as employees

cut thier cure and prenatal testing budget in half or more and put that towards providning funding for families and adults on ALL ends of the spectrum

Stop trying to spread fear show the whole picture

Stop thier personal war against autism and autistics.

Start seeing us not as autism but as humans with autism.

Portray us as we are HUMANS and stop smearing our images.

Accept that not every one wants a cure.

What does everyone elso think?

I think we need to get robbin willims on our side. they will listen to him!

I don't have anything against autismspeaks. I think it's spreading awareness to people about what it is and how it affect others. But I haven't gotten deep into it where I can pinpoint faults in their advertising. I visted to website and they had good videos about the differences between NT babies and autistic babies which I found interesting because my nephew has some of them "red flags".

I've got experience of this kind of militant group in areas outside of autism. In my experience, this kind of monolith cannot redeem itself... it doesn't see the need to, doesn't want to. They honestly think they're in the right.

So while, purely academically they could redeem themselves... in real life, I'm sorry, but it can't ever happen. They're fossils, the only way they know how to relate is through the failed methods they've made so much their own.

I think that Autism Speaks is too set in their archaic ways to change.

Are you one of their agents?
