Meh. I don't really care for them but voted they can go to hell. They shut us out and it should be Autism Shut Up since they don't let us speak for ourselves.

They are corrupt and seek to whipe out autism so that "one day autism is only a word n text books," 8O

they search for a cure and prenatal testing.

IF they cared they would stop searching for the cure or AT:LLEAST quit looking for prenatal tests! If others want a cure they can have it keep it far away from me!

They also promote bad images of autism to the world!

They need to stop talking about us as though we are walking tragedies. I can only imagine the horrible impact of one of their "public service announcements" on a young autistic child, or on the parents of a child just diagnosed. It's absolutely not fair.

Do a little research on them and you'll get the same answer you'll get from pretty much anyone on the spectrum.

My opinion is quite simple;

I didn't vote for them AND they DON'T speak for me (so they should go and ***k somewhere else)

I didn't vote because I'm not interested enough in them to waste my time thinking about them.

Who are they again :?:

It continually amazes me that theyre trying to cure autism, but not willing to "help" those who suffer mental retardation (down syndrome or worse). Does it scare them that autism is so much more common (used to be 1/10,000 a long time ago, now we're 1% of the population)? Theyre just another form of Nazi-ism (if you get rid of group X, the world would be a better place) . . . although i think its odd that their acronym is AS, which is also used to diagnose Asperger's Syndrome  . They should change their title to, ""Anti-Autism Association" . . . at least it would make their point clear. Charity and research my @$$.

What are you talking about? They fund amazing facilities for us! Take, for example, how in 2008, they spent a whole £2 million on their highly funded Community Services program! What's that you say, they spent over £14 million on their payroll and about the same on prenatal testing research? No, of course not! They're just lies put out by the autistic scum! What, did I say scum? I meant, challenged diseased individuals...

Their ads are intended to create a visceral reaction thats how they get money, all it does for us is make us look like monsters that need to be eradicated.

Stop making fun of them! Those poor people with Autism Speaker's Disorder desperately need to be cured. Cured from the face of the planet, so that no one ever has to hear the words Autism Speaks.

Someday there will be a prenatal test for stupidity, and humanity will never have to suffer a zealot or fanatic again... :D

I presume that their activities don't quite meet the requirements to be considered a Hate Group?

What are all of you saying?Autism Speaks is wrong?I disagree.Autism Speaks couldn't be more right.Since when are people supposed to be PROUD of their DEVELOPMENTAL DISORDER?Or to be more specific MENTAL ILLNESS?I have nothing against myself for being autistic, but i have EVERYTHING against autism.Should we try to cure it?It's almost impossible, but yes.I want it to be a word in the textbooks,i want it to be something that doesn't exist..because autism is no different than Schizophrenia,Down Syndrome or any other mental illness.

Autism Speaks uses scare tactics that are dehumanizing and offensive to people with Autism.

They publicly denigrate us, they spend more money trying to prevent our existence than they do on services to make lives of people like us better, or to maximize our potential. Genocide is usually distinguished from "curing".

My understanding is that their priority is not on giving us a voice (quite the contrary), not on improving our lives, but on researching a means of genocide, spreading scare mongering dehumanizing messages about us, and funding the bank accounts of the their top paid execs and sundry others making huge dollars from this organization.

In my view they are a desctructive parasitical organization who is simply exploiting peoples' fears and Autism for their own sick agenda which has nothing to do with speaking for us, much less giving voice to Autism or Autistics.
