I don't usually read fiction, unless it's (a) sci-fi or (b) medical thrillers. There is a medical thriller called "Second Opinion" by Michael Palmer, in which the main character is a physician with AS. She has a brother with what appears to be HFA, or AS with more impaired social skills than his sister, but who is absolutely brilliant, and two neurotypical siblings. I think it's a very good, accurate yet positive, portrayal of someone with AS.

The Millennium Series by Stieg Larsson is really good. They are set in Sweden and the main character is this really awesome girl. They never clearly specify whether she is autistic, but she has a lot of the traits and Asperger's is mentioned as a possibility several times. The books are:

1. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
2. The Girl Who Played With Fire
3. The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest

My history professor recommended them when I told him I had autism. Lisbeth Salander, the main character, has an odd set of morals. It's definitely not a kid's book and parts are disturbing but I just love them.

There first two have been made into movies that were released in Sweden. I have the first one on DVD, but I can't pirate the second until it comes out. >.< Swedish title of the first is Man Som Hattar Kvinnor, or "Men Who Hate Women."
