for whatever reason i think that taking pictures of people stimming seems wrong. i always stim in the privacy of my room so that people don't see me. i was visiting an autism prevention site and they had a picture of an autistic boy stimming and it really scared me for some reason. the idea of someone taking a photo of me stimming and putting it on the internet for the whole world to see seemed so wrong. i feel that stimming is a personal thing. i also dislike the idea of it being analyzed by doctors and seen by non-autistic people. i wanted to know if anyone else shares my feelings or whether this is just a weird thing that i feel.

Without their knowledge and/or permission - yes, of course it's wrong.
With their knowledge and permission - yes, of course it's right.

I agree. I believe that it is only right if you have the person's permission.

Agreed, if they are given permission first. Sometimes it can be for medical reasons, or sometimes we forget that a stim can be a sign of excitement, Shouldn't we celebrate a stim as well?

The videos parents post of their toddlers and kids stimming - yeah, they bother me. I know these parents want to get information (there are better weays than youtube to get it... ) or share information for whatever reason. I doubt they believe that their kids will grow up to one day be able to search the web and do other 'normal' things.. and that they may one day find these videoes of themselves with all of the comments attached to them.

If an adult or informed teen wants to post, that is their perogative - more power to them. But taking that choice away from a kid not yet capable of understanding the potential consequences - I have a problem with that.
