Jenny is also closing her school for autistic children.

Hard on the heels of her split from actor Jim Carrey, Jenny McCarthy is closing her well-known school for autistic children, Teach2Talk Academy.

“Jenny and her partner at the Academy, Sarah Scheflen, had different visions for the school and made a decision to go their separate ways," Jenny’s rep told the entertainment site HollywoodLife.com.
"Both intend to continue on in this important mission. Sarah and Jenny really enjoyed their time working at the Academy and feel honored that they were able to provide such high quality early intervention services to so many children with autism and other developmental disabilities.”

Despite the news, McCarthy's image (above) is still on the school's web site home page.

McCarthy's son Evan was diagnosed with autism in 2005 when he was two years old. Since then the actress has become an outspoken and controversial autism activist. Just last year she told KidsLA magazine “I’m proud to say [the school] is an absolute success in terms of the amount of progress children with autism are making. We do have a goal to open more schools around the country. If I had Bill Gates‘ money, I would have them in every state.”

A source also told Hollywoodlife.com that she may have been in line to gain total control of the school with Jim Carrey's help.

“Before the school fell apart Jim was going to possibly buy out Jenny’s partner so the school would be all Jenny’s," the source said. "Then, next thing I heard, [Jenny] was moving out [from Carrey's house].”

Carrey announced the couple's split via Twitter on April 6.

That's the best news that I've heard, in a long time. :)

There is already so much for young kids with autism but barely any programs for adults, sometimes I think parents don't realize that their kids are eventually going to be adults one day.

Sure it starts out with a school, until they find out how tasty autistics are! Then these schools become fast food chains, CFA, California Fried Autistics, comes in grilled too!

Well, thank gods she wasn't able to open them in every state, they'd have been chelating kids on the lawns with garden hoses and getting national news coverage supporting it.

I just hope this doesn't mean Carrey's going to get bored now and go back to making crappy movies. I don't think I can take another Internal Bunghole of the Clueless Mind or whatever that abortion was called, or The Truman Show ["Look, Honey, Jim Carrey's remade ED TV, only without the humor"].

C'mon, Jim, haven't we seen all this wild gesticulating and face-pulling before? Oh yeah, from The Three Stooges, those Marx Brothers for people not smart enough to 'get' the Marx Brothers.

I thought those two deserved each other. A bimbo and a Bozo...

Actually, the school is being closed because her co-founder didn't see things Jenny's way.

Wow... that's the first time I've seen anything negative said about The Truman Show 8O

talk to me sometime, you'll hear more.

I hate when movies make a faux run at being topical, only do so in the most shallow ways, and then get lauded by critics as something insightful.

Just my opinion. Maybe others found something of value in the film that I missed.

I can't wait until Jenny's son gets big enough, to do therapy on her.

There was a program that I just caught part of it where they basically called her assertions unfounded and a fraud, loved it, it was a program about the controversy with vaccines and it was really interesting to hear both sides of the story, but didn't change my mind at all.

Why is this in the Autism Politics section. Their breaking up isn't noteworthy, and McCarthy has not bee nvery active in autism as of late.

It means that they won't be continuing their foolish media crusade against evidence-based medicine together.

You mean Frontline? You can watch the whole thing here.

I thought it was an excellent program. It wasn't biased, but yet it was pretty easy for anyone to see that the scientific side had more merit.

I would say, because the post directly talks about news related to autism activism -- a school run by an autism activist.

HEAR HEAR!! !! !! !! !! !! !!

My former co-workers and I used to make a joke at work about her:

"she should've just kept her mouth shut, and smiled for Hef's camera".

I fully agree.

the minute she opened her yap, her appeal dropped to practically zero.

It's scary to think that she's about as smart in real life as what she portrayed on Singled Out.
