I selected Autism Pride. For me, I see my autism as a gift. But I respect other people's views on this---I am just stating mine. I enjoy my special intense interests that autism has given me, and I am proud of that. I am happy with being autistic and have found peace with my life. I have a music ministry where I perform music at local area churches. I also share with the congregations about my autism and how it has worked for me.

I don't really like the term "Autistic Pride" because I see it as complete overkill. However, when I find a term that basically means the same thing but isn't as cliched, I'll vote for that term.

I think Autistic Pride is perfect because we 'do' need to be able to feel good about who we are, with all the negatives there are associated with Autism.

Definitely pride for me, since I've always had it, and there is no cure. It's a part of who I am, and nothing can change that.

PRIDE ! !

I often enjoy the fact I see things differently than others, I think this could maybe give us a clearer perspective on things sometimes.

Being proud of something you didn't achieve makes no sense to me. Voted neither.

Neither. I am neutral. I no more want to celebrate my differences than eradicate them.

I believe the sense of pride we mean in this thread can be found in this definition:

In psychological terms, Pride is "a pleasant, sometimes exhilarating, emotion that results from a positive self-evaluation".

This self-evaluation for me is that I am satisfied (in a positive light) with who I am---and I am happy with that. That is my pride.

Considering all the positive qualities my Asperger's has given me, and all the well-known successful people who also have it or are suspected of having it, I can only go with pride.
