I just read some article TIME magazine did. It was an interview with McCarthy. I REALLY do not like this woman. I am unhappy with her views that autism is some nasty disease that can be cured, and that vaccines are dangerous and shouldn't be given to children. What a wonderful idea; let's start an epidemic and kill off our nation's children. She also said that if mother's had a choice between their kids having either measles or autism, they'd go for the measles. I don't know about you all, but I'm not gonna let MY children die of some disease just because some Playboy model thinks she knows everything about autism. It's already pretty much fact that vaccines have no correlation to autism.
And my FAVORITE part of her statement was her statement that auties and other people living with ASDs are "shadows". Sure it sucks sometimes, maybe even a lot of the time, but I am NOT a freaking shadow. Niether was Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, Thomas Jefferson, Van Gogh, Charles Dickens or the dude who drew the Tom and Jerry cartoons.
If you asked me, it's not us that needs to be "cured". You can't fix whats not broken. It's those stupid people who think autism is like malaria who need to be cured.
Sorry about the rant; this just bothered me a whole lot. If I somehow offend anyone, I didn't mean to and I apologize in advance.

She has an autistic kid does she not? I wonder what he'll think of all of this when he's older.

TBH, I doubt anyone with even half a brain listens to this idiot anyway, because they wouldn't be taking medical advice from a stupid celebrity and they'd know that the correlation between autism and vaccines has been found to be non-existent multiple times.

If she's such a "warrior", then I challenge her to a duel.

To the death.

With gunblades.

Let them not get vaccinated, then when their kids die they can sue the vaccine people for not vaccinating them. It will be interesting to watch measles taking out swaths of people.

Such a misinformed person she seems to be, tunnelvision all the way!

And people here wonder why I consider TIME Magazine to be worse than a tabloid...

I could have sworn I read somewhere recently that she "lied" about her kid having autism, or something akin to that. Whenever I see her, I think of horses, and how certain ones might make better glue than mothers.

Her kid doesn't even have autism; he has Landau-Kleffner syndrome. That's right, she exploited the autistic community and put kids in danger to boost her career. Oh, and she still wants to be an advocate for autism.

With "allies" like her and Autism Speaks, who need enemies?

Ahh! So I did NOT imagine reading that!
Do you have any links to that information please? Good old horsie was on Two and a Half Men the other night, and unfortunately it incited a bit of a tirade from me (unfortunate for those who tried to simply watch the show, which I have no idea what it was about now). I cannot seem to let this go, and would like to show that information when I apologize (again).

I wish people would stop talking about autism as if it was a disease. There's enough evidence now to show that there is no link between the MMR and autism. They wouldn't have dismissed Dr. Wakefield for nothing. I can understand why the parents might feel like it's hopeless at times and why they would be so happy to hear about cures, but the fact of the matter is at the moment there is no cure for autism and there may never be one so it would be better to find ways to help people with autism and accept them in society for now at least.

I think the problem with Jenny McCarthy is that she is one of the parents who have got stuck in the grief stage. Instead of looking for just help for her son, she has become obsessed with trying to find cures. I don't know what the truth is regarding her son's diagnosis, but if it is true that he has got this other condition then maybe she needs to stop going on about cures. Personally if I had a choice I would rather not be autistic and I'm quite open about this. Unfortunately I am not as able as some people with autism and I suffer from intense fear and anxiety at times. I do not argue with people who look for a cure, however I believe it is a pointless task.
