The next time anyone suggests you have a "disorder", just let them know that, whenever they're happy, they have a psychological disorder, too.

So we're supposed to be unhappy? But when people are unhappy, they get diagnosed with depression or are known as having it. God everything is becoming a label. We all have to draw the line somewhere and decide when it's BS.

There was a video on The Onion once about a new drug for perky people. On topic, LeagueGirl is right, everything is becoming a label. This is a good book on the subject.

It doesn't seem to be...

I propose a new psychological disorder: Labeling Disorder - the urge to slap labels on 'others', thus setting them apart and enhancing your own status.

I propose "Idiotic Disorder Creating Disorder", which is the same as Labeling Disorder except you can't be diagnosed with it unless you started speaking at a late age

I propose that we all commit suicide now to prove that we are sane.

I propose that we raise awareness and fight to end discrimination against people with this disorder. It's such an awful thing. We should come up with a rating scale. Here's my idea. You start with zero points. The first part of the test (1-5), you add one point for each yes. The second part (6-10), you add one point for each no.

1. Have you smiled in the last day?
2. Are you sleeping well?
3. Does life appear to have meaning?
4. Do you enjoy doing certain things?
5. Do you have goals?
6. Have you considered killing yourself lately?
7. Have you been eating far too much lately?
8. Have you been sleeping much more or much less than usual?
9. Do you feel sad?
10. Are you lonely?

Scores of seven or higher indicate happiness. The goal is to reduce scores to no more than three points-- and ideally all the way to zero. Luckily, many interventions designed for autism have shown promise in treating this new disorder. In severe and intractable cases, antipsychotics may be helpful.

It half is and half isn't. The reference is from NCBI ROFL which is two college students who go through pubmed looking for funny articles. There really is a pubmed article requesting that it be included in the next DSM. However there isn't any follow-up evidence that anybody took that article seriously. It was just some doctor with Labeling Disorder  who got an article in pubmed that was then ignored by everybody but a couple of alert college students with a joke website.

:lmao: Although it would be a lot funnier if it weren't also much too true.

I disagree. I think the humor of the statement derives entirely from the fact that it's true.

I agree about the nature of humour; it wouldn't be funny at all if it weren't true. But my point is that it is too true. With so many people still suffering, it is hard to laugh as hard as I otherwise could if this referred to something safely in the past.

True, true!

Or, as I made an RP character say, "Quite, quite"!
