Remember the aspie kindergartner who was humiliated by his teacher. He was voted out of the class by fellow students at the teacher's order. Well the kid has received a nice settlement as a result of his humiliation.

What is really cool is he made the honor roll 2 years later.

Anyways one of the reasons I don't like teachers unions is the bad teachers don't get canned.

Read the article. I don't know. I understand why the kid wasn't liked, but that was a completely evil thing that the teacher did. It's bad enough when children are bullies.

I would have been much happier to hear that she was struck off and never allowed teach again.

I read a comment and I see how she was reinstated and is STILL teaching. They should have fired the teacher sent all the other teachers for training on special needs kids and given the kid about 1/4-1/2 of what he got financially. I can well imagine how horribly damaging that must have been for him. I think the teacher must have been schooled in her thinking from 20 yrs or more ago.

I'm happy for him and his family. His college education will be paid for. I only wish the teacher was never allowed to teach ever.

The teacher was not the problem. The problem is Social Darwinism. Firing the teacher in fact would be validating Social Darwinism. The values of the community and that was promoted to the school include Social Darwinism and weeding that out is the key. The community and the school board and governments must stop and think about what are these evil values that have wormed their way into the thinking and to weed them out.

I heard about this, and I'm glad the education people are paying out to compensate him for having to put up with such bulls**t.

If I could make the choices, though, I'd have also fired that teacher for good. She'd never get another job afterwards since she's known for this incident.

Well, forget about the long term affects on the kid for a second. What about his peers? [sarcasm]This is an absolutely amazing way to teach kids how to treat other people. Just think when they want to teach the kids about other types of diversity. This experience has prepared them so well for how to treat different people later on.[/sarcasm] Teach a kid to hate, and he will gladly hate. It's human nature.

Well looks like he is a straight A student in a Private School, wasn't it a Toby Keith song of "How do you like me now" that kinda sums up the situation.

What I don't understand is why the school board re-instated a teacher like that after she did a cruel and humiliating thing to the child (who is now an honor roll student-congradulations, Blond Aspie Epic Man!) in front of the class. I swear, people can't hire teachers that can correctly acknowledge their strengths and help work on their weaknessess. The only school that I've seen that does that with their students is my current school, and educational center specializing in behavioral and emotional problems (the people that graduate from the program, which is STAY, are normally successful--a boy with Asperger's Syndrome, HFA, anxiety, or inattentive ADD graduated the program, eventually finishing his major during his last semester before college and learning college level material). The rest of the schools that I've been to (4 in total) fail the report card in helping learning disabled children, twice exceptional children, and children with emotional difficulties.

It is called the Teacher's Union, it can be notoriously difficult to fire a teacher due to the union even more so when the ACLU may get involved calling people racist.
