Came across this today.

Quote:
Conditions during pregnancy may trigger autism where there's a genetic vulnerability, some researchers say. A new study involving twins found fairly high rates of fraternal twins both having autism spectrum disorders: 31 percent rate for male fraternal twins and 36 percent for female fraternal twins, putting the spotlight on pregnancy factors.

This is interesting. If this proves to be true, that 'environmental' conditions in the womb might be to blame and not entirely genetic conditions (as even the ones who have a 'genetic risk' don't neccesarily get it) then there is less likely to be abortions based on mere genetics alone. Which means that if the parents are still hungering for a 'cure,' then they simply alter the uterine environment rather then going about aborting the child. Thus the child gets to live, and fears of a 'genocide' using abortion are reduced.

'The new research doesn't solve the mystery of what causes autism. Most scientists think faulty genes and outside factors are both at work. And since autism spectrum disorders include a wide range of conditions, from mild to severe, it's unlikely there's a single cause for all of them. '

So not really saying it is all the womb is it?

And then people will get upset about the uterine environment being altered, and we have another freaking debate about cure/genocide.
