I read the rules to the forums and this is both news but could be promotion so I hope I don't get in trouble.
I am Marcus Morris, I am a 32 year old high functioning autistic. I was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome a few years ago. I can't work in real life, and that makes me miserable. I have held 68 jobs in 10 years. I love to work, but the social side always stops me. I came to SecondLife and among the things I learned there was that I can work and be successful in the virtual world. I have been a DJ there for about two years and I am very good at it. I love to entertain people. I still lose jobs but I am good enough at what I do that I am never without work. I felt my self confidence increase, my self esteem.. I was able to look people in the eye for the first time in years.
I started Guardian Spirit to help every single differently abled person who can't work in real life get a chance for virtual job training and placement. It doesn't pay real money, but you do make a difference. The work you do in the virtual world can matter. You can contribute to society. That is my goal.
On Tuesday we are actually starting the paperwork to make our center a real life non profit, 510c3? Its the version of non profit that donations are able to be written off. I am not a business man, I just want to help others that are in similar situations to mine.
