yeah I'm a Canadian, I grew up on degrassi, the old and the new, and well it's a popular Issue, and mental disablities, look at craig, with schizo, as well all need a better example of Aspergers then Josh Hartnette in that mozart and the whale movie.

I didn't understand how the lamp stops a fluorescent light from bothering him. I mean they were all on the ceiling so how is a little lamp going to stop it?

At least there is one girl who accepts him but I also understood the Principal's POV. He is also against special treatment. He just doesn't understand the kid. He should use sun glasses. Lot of people are bothered by fluorescent lights so they all deal with them so should he the normal way the principal was probably thinking. I thought it was funny how everyone had a lamp. I also agree with that. If an aspie is going to get special treatment, everyone should get that too. There now the aspie is no different.

I wouldn't tap the pencil out loud in class though because I respect other people and it's annoying. AS is no excuse for it but he seemed oblivious to why she took it. She did tell him to stop. But at least he learned he can't talk about his interests all the time or else people will get bored by them so he does care about people. He also gets help in social skills so he can be a better person. Looks like from this episode he will make plenty of friends.

The principal was terrible. He shows an example of an adult bully :x
Way for everyone to stand up to the kid.

I like that bit at the end. 'Hey we're all weird. At least you have an excuse!'

That is the best quote I've heard in a long time! Also, that principle was a b-word...

What did you think about it? I haven't seen it yet, and I won't have time today.

It was great the only thing i wish they did differently was explain what the sensory issues had to do with aspergers instead of leaving that open ended

I liked it. I would have liked to see the teacher recommend to the girl who stole the pencil that it could be helpful to learn some ways to communicate effectively with the aspie as well.

I think if she would have said the following she wouldn't have been pushed:
Please stop tapping your pencil on your book, I find it very annoying.

Instead she said "please stop that" hoping that the teenager with AS would pick up on the hidden meaning that she finds it annoying. (at least i think that's all she said.)

I used to ask "why?" all the time.

Was it any good? I will be seeing it soon. I read on TV.com that he "goes into a violent rage" I hope it doesn't portray us as violent monsters who go into rages at everything...

The violent rages were, pushing the girl off her feet because she took his pencil and spitting at her. Pushing his things off of tables and stuff in his own basement because the other girl who accepts him wouldn't leave when he told her to.

I thought it was good but they pronounced the condition as "Asperjers."

But there's a lot of us who *do* go into rages. Are we not to be shown then?

I think that principal can be compared to a certain false charity group that we love to hate.

Honestly, that principal was an a**hole. He should have got fired.

If just a few more of my classmates were as understanding as the girl in the glasses, I would have my own family now because the girls would have understood me and my needs and actualy would have gone out with me.
