I can think of one other than Rain Man...off the top of my head.

The other one is called Breaking and Entering, and is a fantastic movie with Jude Law. His stepdaughter, although they don't come right out and explicitly say it, has symptoms of Aspergers. When Jude Law's character and his wife seek counseling, they describe their daughter and you see the therapist write down on a notepad..."ASD?" Other than that, autism isn't mentioned.

Good movie, but ASD isn't the focus at all. However, I thought the daughter character was very interesting and believable.

I think the person Rain Man was based on was actually proven not to have autism.

Oh, I didn't even know it was based on a real person.

Ah, Kim Peek. Nevermind, I did know that at one time...just forgot.

That's interesting...just looked up that info. I didn't know that.

I wonder ... what about Basil of Baker Street from The Great Mouse Detective (1986)?
(Not Sherlock Holmes as written by Doyle, but the anthropomorphized Disney mouse version.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=004282khD1E
- He collects knowledge obsessively and pursues his work with fanatical dedication.
- He talks with a peculiar and intriguing vocabulary.
- He acts "rude" and oblivious to the emotional states of others.
- He interrupts others, and doesn't look them in the face when speaking for more than a moment.
- He has a meltdown when things get frustrating. (the bullet miss-match) (Not all Aspies do that. I know I do have meltdowns/tantrums.)
- He feels awkward in situations where people expect an empathetic response. (Olivia's lost father)
- He doesn't have a girlfriend or sig other, yet he doesn't flirt with the gals in the bar (in that one scene).
- He doesn't seem to have a circle of friends.
- Despite all this, he has high moral standards: He doesn't comfort his friends emotionally (even when he tries, the cartoonists make it look awkward),
but Basil works hard to save others from harm.

(I'm not trying to stereotype btw. I know that lots of NTs have those traits too.)

Mozart and the Whale
Adam
My Name is Khan
Snow Cake
Wretches & Jaberers (a documentary about 2 guys)

Oh, and there's a TV show called "Alphas" which has a character who I think is identified as autistic (rather than just seeming that way and the story never outrightly mentioning it).

Beauty & the Beast (Disney version)?
Daddy Daycare?

Can anyone be obsessive about anything in a movie without someone calling him autistic? Hasn't it already been proven that savantism occurs about as much with us as it does with anyone else and that obsession with an activity is just an effect of being isolated and petitio principii?

At this rate anyone who had a strong interest in anything will be up on on some board with some guy proclaiming that he must be autistic.

Flushed Away. Roddy, Rita and Sid all seem to be aspies, yet their traits and issues manifest differently.

Movies do a horrible job of portraying autism.

Something most people with a bit of self-respect can agree on.

Chocolate.

I see some people are trying to turn this into a "Movie characters that I diagnosed with Asperger's" thread.

I really liked Mozart and the Whale, it is a favorite of mine. "I have put up with an array of sh*t from you that no one should tolerate... And for what? Mr Whale Costume? Mr Toxic toilet?"

story of my life :) ha!
