MIndless Autism Speaks Accusations on AFF Blog

Sad that an Autistic community should designate probably the one organisation really willing and financially able to make a difference in their community's lives, to such hate speech.

It is just plain sad and I hope no-one here has bought into this negative mindset. Best ignore it. move onwards and upwards

the AFF is a mindless organization alright but i dont see how autism speaks is any better.A.S,asan and AFF are all tired cliche's without fact or real substance

Well Autism Speaks uses fallacious and scare-mongering terms to refer to autism. I don't know how ASAN is. As for AFF it isn't AFF itself. It is some of the people in AFF.

Furthermore I don't know why any of you are falling for what this person is saying. Aspies for freedom, if you actually check the links above, isn't on wordpress. It already has its own blog on its website. There's no reason for it to be on Wordpress.

i have only visited the aff once but it seemed rather bizzare,i dont know much about them.autism speaks has its problems like gedrene said.autism speaks is more of a parental franternity.i do have frirnds on autism speaks.look i dont have anything personal against these groups.what i realy mean is i wont kiss these organizations buts.i dont trust large organizations in general.im actualy working with a friend and were writing a grievence letter to asan and autism speaks

I don't either. Good. What we must now establish is whether ASAN has ulterior motives. If we do not then we cannot say they mean any harm.

Reason is our greatest friend here Genesis. We don't run on automatic.

i hope you have heard all the arguments against autism speaks. i don't think i need to restate them. the point is i do believe this, "pap" or not. so what i think you should look at is why so many people hate them. try to view it with an open mind. some people do in fact find this very scary. fear is a great motivator, autism speaks used fear tactics to try and garnish support and now it has backfired and people fear them. i would say thats tough luck for them. they took a risk with a lot of money bet on it and lost it, i have absolutely no sympathy for them. they were playing high stakes poker with public perception of autism, and they weren't autistic and therefore had no right to do so.

Not to mention that it's highly doubtful that this represents the feelings and thoughts of people in charge of AFF. I have never seen a reference to it on the site.
