OK, I am writing a long-form journalistic profile on Autism: Life Through Our Eyes (tentative title) for my Journalism Senior Project/Thesis (Full Disclosure: Anything garnered through these efforts may also likely to be used for my Book-length Thesis Project for my Creative Writing MFA,to begin next year; though the Defense/Publication of said book, if accepted, would not be for another 3 years). While I initially intended to write a memoir of my personal experiences, my Journalism adviser suggested I collect other perspectives from across the spectrum of Autism and life experiences, to show just how diverse our community is and let others understand how we perceive ourselves and the world, through whatever means whomever is kind enough to donate their time and honesty to the project is most comfortable expressing themselves.
At this point, I am just looking for an approximate idea of how many people express interest in contributing to this little endeavor. The Capstone Seminar and Defense doesn't officially begin until Spring Semester, and so this will become far more defined in the months between then and now.

And because this is a Journalistic endeavor (emphasis on the capital J :) ), I will be somewhat particular in what I am looking for. I am not looking for parentsm of a child on the spectrum, and I prefer that those who are willing to share and be interviewed (or however you share your story) have been diagnosed by a professional, and ideally a good number of respondants will have been diagnosed early on in life--though I want to hear from the whole spectrum of people: gender, age of diagnosis, age, race, geographic location (rough ideas are fine, though other Alaskan Aspies/Auties are especially welcome to identify their homestate!)
I will do my utmost to follow proper journalistic procedure, especially with regards to acknowledging contributors, and proper legal forms, if desired. If this goes to actual publication, I will certainly let everybody know and thank them profusely as best my resources allow.

Anyone interested, please PM me with your basic stats (age/gender/when diagnosed) and how best to contact you, if outside wrong planet. Feel free to give me a blurb of what you have to share, if you have specific stories/messages in mind. Y'all can, of course, also attach a post to this thread with the same information instead; I just wanted to offer a more private forum for contacting me with your interest for those concerned about posting private information in a public thread.

Thank you so much just for taking the time to read my request, and I hope to hear from people in the coming weeks.

Again, my sincerest thanks.

I would love to contribute. Adults aren't the only ones with autism, right? :P

Just PM me about it if you would like me to help.
