people will always make fun of us. they will take advantage of us every opportunity they get. it is an inevitable fact of life that people will torture us, restrain us, abuse us, write articles to defame us, take our money, prevent us from marrying, take our children, put us in ineffective programs, get us high on drugs in hospitals, kill us, maim us. these are only the things i can think of off the top of my head, but you get the point. the trouble is that there is no way out. our symptoms brand us and people notice, then they think we are weak. every type of profiteer sees us as a target. that is why we have all these quack cures, asylum doctors who rape and kill, and journalists who call us psychopaths to boost readership of their newspapers.

theo,

some folks are kind and wouldn't do any of the things you list. in fact, most folks have good hearts. you're focusing on all the bad stuff.

Well, I'm not great at optimism, but you never know how things might change. (And there are people working hard on trying to change things for the better.) It wasn't that long ago that women couldn't vote. I mean, that's mind-boggling by today's standards.

Of course, autistics are a rarer minority, but then LGBT folk have also made a lot of progress and they're not a lot less rare (I think).

I don't disagree. I do think it's important to remember though, that Aspies are not the only people these things happen to. There are millions who are taken advantage of every day that have no disorders at all.

There have always been people who take advantage of the disadvantaged. It's nothing new. Sometimes I think it's almost better to develop an "as*hole" side that you can (hopefully) turn on and off as needed. You may not be able to stop all the abuse, but at least you can eventually stop if from happening to you, and feel better about yourself. It'll piss some people off in the meantime, but if it's done for the right reasons, at the right times, and directed at the people who deserve it rather than those who don't, you won't be too concerned at those that are pissed. Because they're usually the ones that deserved it anyway. Who cares what they think?

Autistics aren't the only people who get treated badly. If by "they" you mean NT's, well, some NT's live lives worse than ours. Somehow, they cope with their difficulties.

well yeah, i realize that. in our society a lot of people make a lot of money picking on the poor, or the ethnic minorities or people with other disabilities.

People are all different. The kind of people who f**k over autistic people are also the kind of people that f**k over neurotypical people. Autistic people just happen to be easier to f**k over because they don't easily spot the body language that indicates when a person is not to be trusted.

Unfortunately, in this world of ours, there are a lot of people who seek to make your life miserable because they are unhappy. People tend to hold a natural curiosity toward people who are quiet, do their work, and seem to have very few problems. Often-times, they can't understand how you can be satisfied with your life when you appear to have less education, money, and status than they do. As a result, you become a target because your values are not mainstream or inline with their own expectations.

Neuro-typicals carry a different sort of baggage than Autistics do. They are constantly fighting to adjust to a FALSE ToM or the assigning of false beliefs and false expectations to others in relation to themselves. False ToM is what drives the Neuro-typical mindset in experiments involving social motivation.

At a certain point can a person just Hire-A-Bully to deal with the person who is bullying them? I mean who would be a better expert then someone who is them self a bully?

I mean suppose a Jock is giving you a hard time. At the next school game could you research and find a big guy from the other school team and bribe them to run over and wreck the Jock from your school? Just say you have money on the game and you want that player taken out.

I'm not sure where I'm Seriously going with this but this kind of thing makes my mind wander into dark twisted areas.

I grew up in the 1980's, and my generation could get away with this sort of thing. Today, people are too quick to take a human life in a physical altercation.

Unless, you go through the proper channels to find a trained legal body guard from a security company; i wouldn't advise it.
