No organization should collect money under false pretences. That's illegal. There are gov agencies that can investigate them. I think the IRS is one of them, as Autism Speaks is probably listed as a tax exempt organization. In order to maintain that listing, they have to use a reasonable amount of monies collected on actually doing charitable stuff, including research, and helping needy people with assistance programs, etc.
If you have real knowledge/proof that they are not doing this then you can report them to the gov.
As for finding a way to detect Autism in the womb to enable abortion, I am against non necessary abortions. It should only be done to save the life of the mother, or in the case of multi births, to save an in utero sibling. Every abortion stops a beating heart. The Constitution guarantees the right to life, that includes the life of an unborn child. A human fetus is made of human DNA, not that of any other creature, so it is human. It takes in nutrition, grows, gives off waste, and engages in biochemical activity, so it is alive. Killing it for non medical necessity, is therefore murder. Yes, the Constitution also guarantees the right to pursue happiness, and sometimes people are not happy that they are pregnant. However the Constitution does not guarantee that anyone will actually catch happiness if they pursue it. Also, the right to life trumps the pursuit of happiness. After all, you can't pursue happiness if you're dead. There are several alternative solutions for unwanted pregnancies. First, don't get pregnant in the first place. Second, if you do end up pregnant with an unwanted kid, put it up for adoption. Third, see if a family member would be willing to raise the kid, instead. Why are so many people so concerned about no-kill animal shelters, but okay with murdering unwanted unborn kids? And how about all those animal activist groups? I have my own take on it:
SAVE THE BABY HUMANS!! !
As for my own situation. I would have preferred to have been born normal, not aborted. Since I wasn't aborted or born normal, I have to deal with the reality that I have a disorder that makes my life among normal people very difficult. Better that than to be murdered in the womb. I will never be normal, or free of the difficulties my condition causes, but at least I have found coping methods that help some. There are also things that provide interests and activities for me, so, even dealing with chronic, lifelong low grade depression, I am not spending all day curled up in bed moaning over my fate. So my advice to parents wanting the option to abort kids with Autism or other disorders is:
ABSOLUTELY NOT!! !
There is life with Autism spectrum disorders. Granted, it's not always a good life, but it's better than being murdered in the womb. And it's better for you parents, too, as you won't have to live with the knowledge that you participated in murdering your own child.
REMEMBER, SAVE THE BABY HUMANS, INCLUDING AUTISTICS!! !
