One way or the other, Paddy Considine has been acting all his life. In recent years his talents have won him acclaim both in Britain and Hollywood but as a child, he says, it was pure survival. “I got through with my ability to mimic others and make people laugh,” he says. “I swaggered through life but, in reality, I lived in fear pretty much every day. I acted like a completely normal person, and I suppose I was good at it. But, inside, it was a very different story.”:

I've never heard of him, but I thought that was a particularly good article.

My boyfriend very sweetly sent me this article because we both liked Submarine, which he was in. Anyone else seen it? I liked that they have him playing a very un-autistic character, he obviously hasn't been typecast because of having aspergers.

Just read this article, and can relate in a big way with what he says. Very inspiring

Yeah, I can especially relate to how people view me. I picked up a little bit of Marlon Brando in my persona after watching some old movies and people think I'm NT when I'm only acting the part. Being polite. Method acting.

I think there might be more aspie actors than we are aware of. Acting is a very important skill for us
and often underrated in advice. For me understanding an mimicking NT behavior became an obsession
which in turn becomes a skill and maybe (not in my case) a profession. He's also a very good face for us.

I have no idea who he is, but he sounds cool...the whole acting his way through life sounds like me too.
I always felt like I was fubar-ed even though I played the role I saw others play like a chamilion. Then when I discovered my diagnosis, it seemed as if the world had righted itself.

Aspergers can obviously vary so much. I bet there's millions of people who don't know they have it. James Durbin is another good example.

His experience makes you wonder if acting class of some sort could be a helper for autistics.

I've developed a great deal of movement control over simply watching youtube videos and making my own.

I can be really good at making youtube vid's where I seem totally NT.

It just falls apart in real life when I don't know which camera to look at. :?

I sort of wish I had pursued acting, because I'm pretty good at LARPing. Too shy for a career though.
