I am more or less behind the concept that those with asperger syndrome have schizoid personalities; and that while SPD diagnosis is unnecessary for us, we still have pretty much the same issue with the same symptoms and similar causes.
On the other hand, though, I think that one of the main differences is that aspies are more honest with themselves in the fact that they are lonely. This may have to do with the more line-based thinking that aspergians tend toward; whereas SPD schizoids have a more intuition-based understanding of themselves.

Well, maybe I digress.
So, I posted to criticize the name of the site itself (and no, I didn't sign up just to talk trash). The combined grandiosity and insecurity of a schizoid, as I understand it, cause them to feel that they are unable to live fulfilling lives but don't blame themselves for it directly. I think that I as an aspie have gotten myself into this trap in the past; because an aspie's life is shaped by their own specific inferiorities (still not talking the trash) and superiorities which lead to insecurity and grandiosity, respectively. A schizoid may feel that they are on the wrong planet; that it's their environment that needs to mature to accomodate them, and not the other way around at all.

I'd expect a psycho problem like SPD to be more easily treated through CBT/psychotherapy than a neuro problem like aspies. However, aspergers is a syndrome (a group of symptoms), and I've read in many places that treatment (or 'personal growth') can practically eliminate the symptoms. The syndrome is cured, literally, but the neuro variation still exists.

Has anyone else ever thought along these lines?

Funny...your not talking the trash sounds an awful lot like you're talking the trash. :?
