The first time I visited Encyclopaedia Dramatica, I laughed and laughed until I wanted to puke. I thought the aspie jokes were uncool but terribly funny. But then I saw their attitudes towards rape. The producers of this site actually seem to believe that rape is a funny topic, and have a pro rape attitude that I thought was sickening.

My conclusion was that mentally ret*d people are more capable of creating better funnier toilet humour than the jerks at Encyclopaedia Dramaticus

Keep in mid that it's primarily just a mechanism to further mock Chris Chan, a parasite who does deserve elimination from the food chain. Tragic really how god can let 9/11 happen but that guy can still make his homophobic videos.

Nah I enjoy most of the humor on the site and I honestly think that aspie nationalism can get out of hand sometimes

I haven't come across Encyclopaedia Dramatica, but if I did visit it and didn't like it I just wouldn't bother going back there. Life's too short not to do things you love and that includes wasting time visiting websites you don't like.

I like Encyclopedia Dramatica very much. It would be an awful thing if everything on the net was in perfect good taste.

It is, as the site's name suggests, a repository of techniques for creating online drama, and by getting an outraged reaction it only goes to show how successful it is in this aim.

I think that familiarity with its contents can act as a vaccination against the kind of trolling it encourages: It becomes easier not to be affected by it when you recognise certain tropes and memes being repeated.

Besides, I'm very much in favour of freedom of expression and recognise that ED's outrageousness is very much an example of this principle.

And besides, it is often very very funny indeed.

Feel bad that you ran into the site. It's obviously just a troll site. The more attention you give it the more you feed the flames. They are just simple minded versions of "shock jocks". Even I can get down on the parents who over pity AS children and lower their expectations of them. I am accused of being a "4chan" type because I try to enlighten them a bit by telling them it's realistic to say "no". That's the only real way it affects me. Otherwise I just let them sit in their own little bubbles smelling their own stink until they are totally sick of it and move on.
