The United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child - monitoring the worldwide implementation of the international Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) - will hold a Day of General Discussion on "Digital media and children's rights" on 12 September 2014 in Geneva, Switzerland. They also invite written submissions on this topic (maximum of 7 pages).

Our autistic self-advocacy NGO (non-governmental organization) will submit a good-practice contribution on how digital media have facilitated the development of the autistic community. We'd like to reserve some space for a child or teenage self-advocate to talk about what digital media mean to them, how they facilitate their self-advocacy, how digital media helped them learn about autism, but also raise possible problems or concerns.

Unfortunately, it can't be someone from the US, because the USA have not yet ratified the Convention. But almost all other countries have (the only other exceptions being Somalia and South Sudan).

We will require confirmation from your parents that they are okay with you being quoted and named in the submission.

If interested, reply here or send me a PM. Thanks.

(P.S. If you live close to Geneva, or can afford to travel here, we can also get you accredited to participate in person in the conference and contribute orally to the discussion, primarily during two working group sessions on "Children's empowerment and engagement through digital media and ICT".)
