Both articles I've linked to have embedded the video of the assault. It's not gory but it's pretty disturbing.

Apparantly the killer's mother thinks it's "not a big deal".

What an utter scumbag this Lewis Gill is. Hopefully he'll have the decency to commit suicide in prison, but I somehow doubt he will.

Lewis Gill is a real psychopath, his mom quite fits the definition too.

They could be psychopaths, or they could be products of a culture which regards people on the spectrum as less than human.

The outcome is the same either way though.

I have a feeling the killer will be a continual problem. Four years is light - it's certainly not sufficiently exemplary to discourage others who have a similar mindset. Any sentence should have three features: Corrective; Punitive; and Exemplary. From what I can see, the four-year sentence is insufficient in all three areas.

four years is not enough,he will be out in less than that under UK standards.

seeing as he is very impulsive with throwing his fists around,he will hopefuly end up doing the same thing in prison to some built up hard lad who doesnt take any nonsense.
theres no way someone as unstable as him will last long in a prison full of hard nuts.

hopefuly he will be in one of her majestys scummier prisons such as wormwood scrubs.
he is going to be let out into society in a few years-will he be fixed? no way, he is a pyschopath he will never change but society will always be at risk for as long as he is free.

If the same thing happened here, he'd be getting at least 20 years. Scumbags like him shouldn't be allowed to walk the streets.

I actually work as a CCTV operator. This kind of behaviour is very common among bystanders when an assault occurs.

Lesson to all of us: You are not human in the eyes of the populace. You are not human in the eyes of the law. Keep your head down, keep your mouth shut, and hope you get your worthless, subhuman, defective ass home in one piece.

Disgusting how so many people just continued walking while he laid on the street, but there seemed to be one shining individual that started running towards him before the video ended.

Unfortunately there are lots of random acts of violence in the UK, most of them alcohol or drug fuelled but a lot just because someone snaps. I don't think people should be afraid they're being targeted as I doubt this guy had any idea what autism was. The story here is that the victim said something racist to the guy on the bike who had walked away and his criminal friend took offence and punched him. It is pretty common here for some guy to take offence at something and start lashing out, but unfortunately in this case it ended in death.
Last year I watched some university students walking down our main road after a night out so probably drunk. Out of the blue, the guy in front turns round and punches the guy behind him and knocks him out. I've also been driving in snow when some kids (about 11 yrs old) start pelting our cars with snowballs at a red light. The guy two cars in front jumps out of his car and chases them down, grabs one of the kids and starts kicking the crap out of him before some passers by stop him. Then we had the "happy slapping" phenomenon that swept the nation a couple of years ago where teens would target a random person and film themselves punching them and running away or beating them up and post it on social media. Until the consequences of assault are higher, this kind of thing will continue to happen.

These p*****s wouldnt last a day in a Federal prison here in the states without getting stabbed.

To be honest the sentence had most likely nothing to do with the victim having AS, rightly or wrong these types of sentences are typical for manslaughter in the UK. Judges can't just make up any sentence they like over here, they have guidelines to follow. That isn't to say this wasn't disturbing, especially as this happened in the town right next to the one in which I live >.>
