My reasoning for Aspies to be more conservative is that we have a tendency to dislike change. We like our routines and it bugs us when things change. I'm just curious if this adherence to routine and resistance to change also effects our political ideology. I also threw up this poll to see some numbers to support or break my theory.

P.S. I'm not saying Conservatism or Liberalism is better than the other and I'd rather not get into a political argument with flaming and mud slinging ect.

It's a false dichotomy since are many more varieties of political positions than "liberalism" and "conservatism." I'll just say I'm definately not what's being called a conservative here and leave it at that.

Actually, most members on WP seem to be really liberal.

I can't relate to the Democrats or Republicans. I am anti-authoritarian and loathe big government bureaucracy with my every being.

Assuming that we totally divorce the concepts conservative and liberal from the democratic and republican parties, I would agree that I am a 'conservative' because I believe that we should strictly adhere to the spirit of the framing of our nation and the message of peace and freedom that it propagates.

I believe that diversity is strength, and should be encouraged. Diversity of course includes everything non destructive, no matter how repulsive I find it to my sensibilities.

However, those ideals are now 'liberal' and more in line with the democratic party then the republican.

I personally believe that people who believe that we should make sweeping changes to our government and how it runs (ie, pseudo nationalizing banks) are more 'liberal' as they have taken a far less literal interpretation of our constitution.

Ultimately my political affiliations are almost solely determined on their ability to safeguard the citizenry's right to be as 'wrong' as they want... and I dont care if thats a change from the status quo or not. (ie, I may have marked Obama on my ballot but in my heart it was Ron Paul I voted for)

I'm a right-wing libertarian and that's precisely why I wanted Ron Paul to win the Republican primaries. Although he ran under the Republican banner, many of his ideals are very palatable with libertarian interests.

I used to think that I was right wing, but then I took the political compass test and discovered that I was middle of the road on both the economic policy and libertarian / authoritarian scales.

http://www.politicalcompass.org/

I suspect that the average aspie thinks that they are more right wing / conservative than they are.

I think it's a bunch of BS, I think the whole idea of left right, capitalist vs socialist,vs communist is idiotic. The world is more complicated then men's vague ideas of how the world ought to be.

Authoritarianism and any economic system are not mutually exclusive, in fact anyone who subscribes to western individualism is necessarily authoritarian, capitalism is nothing more then competitive dictatorship, under the guise of 'democracy', money rules, and so it's a state run by autocratic authoritarian oligarchs, most people are so hoodwinked by the rich they can't think straight since rich people have so polluted the communications medium via the media with distortions and half-truths. Those who have the gold make the rules, therefore any talk of democracy or "freedom" is quite hollow, since those with money quite willfully engage above the law and restructuring the laws of countries and the economies to their whim. It's still the same old game - resources and slaves, and distributing and offloading risk via competition and masking slavery via the lies perpetrated by ideologues and economists. The richer someone is the more risk and price pressure they put on others, we've seen this with gentrification of cities. I've seen the prices in new york in many places and they are ridiculous.

I consider people intelligent once they move away from ideology, since an abstraction cannot save anybody from the real issues at hand - finite resources - population quality - poor ethics and character of human beings and the fundamental limits to growth that are coming to the forefront that are going to rub right up against the current favored economic ideology of the west.

On the political compass, I got libertarian liberal, which I already knew I was. So I'm in the same category as Nelson Mandela and the Dalai Lama, which is cool.

PS, George Bush is in the same category as Hitler. Also an inevitability, LOL...

I'm green/socialist, definitely further to the left than liberal.

Most people as poor as I am will be on the left somewhere. Plus anyone who needs more government services than average. Personally, I'm glad some people on the spectrum feel economically secure enough to be on the right. But I don't expect there'd be many of you.

I'm 100% Liberal and proud of it! :P

According to this test, I'm supposedly in the same category as Gandhi,
Nelson Mandela, and the Dalai Lama!

Ron Paul was the 1988 Libertarian candidate. I would consider myself a right-wing Libertarian also.

Practically EVERYONE scores "Gandhi" on that stupid test. I scored over by Milton Friedman, though I might land somewhere else by now.
