I thought there would already be a thread about this.

Last night, at the second republican debate, Donald Trump said that he thinks vaccines should be given in fewer increments. Why? Because he said (SAID this!) that he knew a kid who was "fine" but then after a vaccine had a terrible fever, which resulted in autism. 8O And it's an epidemic that we have to do something about.

Um, what? This somehow became a talking point. Everyone else talked about how vaccines SHOULD be given in slower increments, but declined to link vaccines to autism. Trump was standing next to a Johns Hopkins neurologist. I forget his name but he seems a little Aspergery himself if you ask me. He said there was zero evidence of vaccines being associated with autism, then went on to talk about vaccines again. Why were they talking about vaccines?? It was idiotic.

I only watch debates for fun, so I wasn't expecting serious fact-related discussion, but I was thunderstruck at the stupidity of this. I mean, many of them said other ridiculous things, but this "autism question" took up a surprising amount of time.

I think, when the REAL campaigning starts, that Trump will withdraw his candidacy.

If Donald Trump is elected President, then he will screw up this country in a manner worse than the
second President Bush.

@ OP: The neurologist's name is Ben Carson.

YES! Thank you!

It really says something about the republican voters that are choosing him in the polls. Is there any group of people he hasn't said something terrible about yet?

If he wins we'll all be in Alternate 1985 with Biff Tannon running the show.

Am I the only one who thinks that Ben Carson was using his knowledge as a neurologist to convince people to NOT vote for Donald Trump?

As I've said, Trump is a dummy.

Not really. As someone who had an allergic reaction to a vaccine when I was three that damaged my hearing like any scientific study or studies we should not condemn anyone and their theories unless they are pushing an unproven theory on us.

What we needs is questions, questions and more questions with studies.

Just because a theory is unpopular doesn't mean the book should be shut.

I support Trump he is the only one talking about Autism right now. He did not come out an attack autistics and we do need help and support.
