I Was Never Able To Accept My Son’s Autism Until I Monetized It Through Blogging

Saw this post up on Clickhole today, thought the people here would be best equipped to appreciate it.

Hahahahahaha...

WP doesn't have a big enough LOL smiley to cover it.

The cynic in me says sometimes satire is so close to sincerity...

But she only started to love her child when her blog about him was make money for her, I thought she is supposed to love him, not because he brings her with money or other things.

This put a smile on my face on a dreary rainy day.

But we must not be autistic because we understood a joke and expressed emotion.

Yes. It still put a much needed smile on my face though :)

She's being ironic, sarcastic, and/or snide. In general, satirical. Poking fun at people who do, in fact, actually use "special needs parent" to get attention and/or money.

People do. Sad but true.

Really good satire, IMO, doesn't give itself away right away. It builds in absurdity until almost anyone who can identify sarcasm (which, granted excludes some of us people with autism) catches on. For me the clear 'giveaway' statement was this:
"And with a potential advertising deal with Autism Speaks in the works, I couldn’t love him more."

Well done, and an excellent example for the rest of us. I'm going to put up a new post soon, just waiting for the next meltdown so I can drop in a few embedded product endorsements.

That is hysterical.

Sadly, I have a SIL who used her special needs kids to grift from people on the internet, so yeah...not all parents are on the up and up.

I had no idea this was a satire website until I saw this thread and then I noticed Onion in the top corner and the other articles and it's obvious now it's satire.

I had never seen that website before this article so when I read it before when it got posted to Facebook, I thought it was real. I just never looked round on there to see, only the article so I can see now how people can fall for satirical articles. especially I they have never heard of the website or don't really pay attention.
