Given his successful career and age group, it is no surprise that his diagnosis came so late in life.

A link within that link was more interesting to me though, because it is very rare for autistic service users to be surveyed on their quality of their experience of diagnostic services as clients, and this Wales study found the following:


64% had issues in obtaining a referral
30% waited less than six months for a first appointment
23% waited six months to a year
44% rated the assessment process as poor or very poor
73% were not given written information about autism
