Autism discrimination: Life in prison for being autistic
It shocks even me the level of discrimination against us. When I was in school, I was horribly, horribly bullied because of AS. The fat pig that was the inclusion director of the inclusion program in my public school not only let the bullies beat me up, but punish me for being involved in the fight Kama whether I fought back or not and accused me of setting off the bullies!
One day, after being pushed down a flight of stairs on Tuesday February 15th, 2005 at around 2:45 p.m. during dismissal, which caused me to sustain a mild back injury at the lower back and it still hurts even more than 11 years later. I was given detention for trying to uncover the abuse of by my disability director by trying to expose the incidents to the principal.
However, even though I began this about me, this topic is hardly going to be about me.
This topic of conversation is about Paul modrowski, and innocent autistic man who is sentenced to life in prison without parole for "supposedly" lending his car to a murder suspect, yet he was acquitted two days before Paul was convicted of lending that car
Paul Modrowski on the evening of April 29th, 1993 was arrested after Robert faraci, the murder suspect claim that Paul was not only responsible for the murder of Dean Fawcett, but was also responsible for the murder of 7 people at a Brown's Chicken & Pasta restaurant in Palatine Illinois.
He and his friend were arrested, by he claimed to be a SWAT team. As they arrested him, he demanded an attorney and the in the an interrogator told him that wasn't going to happen. He was taken to the Rolling Meadows Police Department where he was questioned for several days without access to an attorney and without signing any waiver giving away his rights. He refused to say anything until he got an attorney and Paul said and His Own Prison blog that he got beat up and threatened for refusing to talk.
Despite not saying anything, what are the police officers made a false allegation that he supposedly lent a car to Robert faraci, after he supposedly told Paul that he was going to murder Dean Fawcett and asked him to use his car.
It was faraci who made up the false allegations against Paul about him participating in the murder of Dean Fawcett and the Palatine chicken massacres, this might never have been to the town of Palatine ever in his life.
One of Paul's attorneys was William Von hoene Kama a prominent lawyer in the Chicago area at the time who worked mostly as a business attorney, but I kind of did pro bono defense cases.
After the jury acquitted Robert faraci of the murder, the attorney believe that there was no need for Paul or his family to testify since there was no longer any reason to try him under the accountability law since faraci was acquitted.
Regardless, Paul modrowski wanted to testify and so did his sister, and he had a massive meltdown during the lunch break during the trial and he cried and banged his fist on the desk. It was actually the first time and last time that Paul cried since his trial in the last 22 years.
Just after Paul's meltdown was over, he went up to his mom and dad and sister and told her mom and dad that "you don't have a son anymore."
He said that because he felt that he was going to be convicted because of his attorneys stupidity and everyone else on his defense believe that Paul was going to be found not guilty. In the end Paul was found guilty just as he had suspected and had a meltdown over just previously. It's ironic how the man who said was he was going to be found guilty actually was and that his meltdown was completely Justified.
The reason Paul did not testify was because the attorney threatened to abandon his case if he attempted to testify during the trial. It was actually Roberts testimony that led to his acquittal and very likely had Paul modrowski testified, he would have been acquitted as well.
Recently, blood was found on Robert faraci old car and Paul modrowski current lawyer named Jennifer is trying to file a motion to have that DNA tested to have him exonerated.
The reason for the jury's guilty Verdict Herbicide the police officers false testimony of him supposedly lending a car to Robert faraci, which did not happen, he was also a prime suspect in the Brown's chicken and pasta restaurant massacre in Palatine and his lack of emotion during most of the trial, caused by his autism led to the guilty verdict.
Also, the prosecution characterized Paul as "cold and indifferent".
Also, the jury did not reveal his diagnosis of autism to the jury, despite his parents and his own request for the attorney to do so for fear that his autistic characteristics would have been taken the wrong way, which they were, because the jury did not know of Paul's diagnosis of Autism.
I am asking you to spread this post around, and please sign this petition to have Paul freed, or at least have be given a new trial.

Autism or not, this was injustice without any proof he did it. And since the wife confessed to lying, why is he still behind bars and why hasn't the judge released him or change his sentence? Also I don't get why his lawyer would make him be quiet in the trial.

Having investigated criminal activity for the Defense Department, and being a law student, I see a lot of holes and a lot of unanswered questions. To begin with, most Illinois lawyers and cops are incompetent, period. I know from personal experience. But excluding that fact, I should point out that autism is no defense. I have yet to meet an autistic that doesn't know right from wrong. Under the M'Naughten rule, that is the ultimate test. You may be right about this guy. Then again, you may not be. I haven't seen the case file, so I'm sure that you understand that I'm not going to take just one person's word for it. Lending a vehicle to enable a person to commit a murderer usually does lead to charges - even if the lender doesn't know about the intent of the lendee. It sometimes takes a trial to sift that information out. I believe that there is more to this than what is being presented in your request. I believe that there aren't enough facts presented here. That being the case, I'm hesitant to sign for now. There is that chance that for once, these cops may be right.

Thank you for all who signed my petition! In the past several days since posting this post, I have gotten over 30 signatures! I am gonig to meet with the ASAN and bring this to their attention. Paul's case will go nationwide, if not worldwide on the news media with the ASAN's involvement. I am an active member of the Autistic Self Advocacy Network as of Yesterday!
