Hong Kong movie ‘Tomorrow Is Another Day’ raises awareness on autism

Quote:
Tomorrow Is Another Day, a much-anticipated Hong Kong movie that shines a light on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), opens in Malaysian cinemas during Autism Awareness Month.

The movie has notably received four nominations at the upcoming 37th Hong Kong Film Awards (HKFA) – Best New Director for Chan Tai Lee (who is the screenwriter for Donnie Yen movies such as Special ID, The Monkey King and the Ip Man trilogy), Best Actress for Teresa Mo, as well as both Best Actor and Best Newcomer for Ling Man Lung.

The tale revolves around the challenges faced by a woman (Mo) who has to care for her autistic son (Ling) while having to deal with her husband’s (Ray Lui) infidelity and his troublemaker mistress (Seli Xian).

A graduate of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Ling is a stage actor who makes his big screen debut in Tomorrow Is Another Day. “Before making the movie, I got to know two autistic youngsters. I had the opportunity to spend time with them and interact with them.

“I even got to accompany them on outings, so that I could observe their mannerisms and behaviour,” said Ling in a recent phone interview from Hong Kong.
