Autism: rapidly spreading poison in the society

Quote:
Autism is no more an unusual incident to our society of “westernising literates”. With the increased trend of alcoholism in our country, several disorders which earlier prevailed rarely, are spreading wings at a rapid pace, counting along Autism.

It may be caused due to genetic or environmental factors.

Alcohol or drug consumption, or even considering infections like Rubella, during pregnancy, majorly interfere with the development of the foetus, and cause obstacles to its development, leading to such complications.

The most disheartening fact about autism is that it has no cure, there are still cases of recovery.

Autistic people need care, they need to be accepted with their difference and not isolated, considering them defected.

Even though we are poisoned and it is disheartening we can’t be cured don’t consider us defective?

I assume that this article was not published in a peer-review journal...

Just regular media which is what this section is for.

Oh, I'm not objecting to placement of the story.

I'm commenting on its general 'tabloid' tone.

I have to wonder if the reporter has merely noticed a correlation (coincidental increase in reported cases of both drug abuse and autism) and ascribed it to causation (where one caused the other).

A common mistake among tabloids and conspiracy theorists.

I post articles in this section in part to show that articles about autism are often poorly researched and based on assumptions.

Being that is article comes from a country where people believe in an "illness" called "Puppy Pregnancy Syndrome", where people bitten by a dog can shortly afterwards become pregnant with its puppies, start acting like a dog, and are eventually are killed by the puppies, especially if the victim is male, you'll have to forgive me if I don't see it as the most reliable source of medical information.

I don't think that autism is a poison. I also agree that autistic people should be accepted and not isolated.
