A mosaic of autistic lenses, an autcollab.org project
https://autcollab.org/projects/a-mosaic ... ic-lenses/
The aim of the project is to collect and publish as many as possible individually unique autistic perspectives on what constitutes the essence of autism, free of any medical jargon or pathologising terminology, in the following format:
1. A summary of what constitutes the core of your autistic experience in about 300 to 1,000 words. This could be a poem or prose, in your own words and style, a description of the world through your own autistic lens.
2. A photo / picture of yourself or something else that is important to you.
The objective is to create a library of authentic autistic voices as a counterbalance to the diagnostic language used by the medical profession and the autism industry.
Submitted work will be published online as a mosaic of pictures.
Due to the prevailing stigmatisation of autism, authors may choose to remain anonymous.

Sarah Bettin : Ability to focus – If I am interested in learning something, I have unlimited energy and devotion. I am motivated from within, I am an independent learner. Meeting another person who is knowledgeable gives me immense delight... https://autcollab.org/projects/a-mosaic ... ah-bettin/
Stephen Gray : Somehow this picture sums up how I view the way autistic people are undervalued. If they took the time to understand us, they would see autism as a gift. 1/ As I can’t read social cues very well, I judge a person by the factual content of what they say, thus I don’t suffer fools gladly, and you had better know your facts if you want to impress me. By the way this explains why I don’t read fiction... https://autcollab.org/projects/a-mosaic ... phen-gray/
Jorn Bettin : I am always aware of the physical environment. I feel more at home in salt water in the ocean than on land among humans... https://autcollab.org/projects/a-mosaic ... rn-bettin/

They’re all around but not like me
I wear a mask and try so hard

To copy faces, games they play... https://autcollab.org/projects/a-mosaic ... ses/bimog/
