How to best curve negative business practices.
I got into a disagreement with someone about how to deal with greedy evil people and corporations. My cousin went on to argue just boycott them and its that simple but the truth is given how hard it is to get people to even vote what in the world would make someone think most people would spend mind-numbing hours upon hours searching for a company that did NOT do shady business and that we should go back to growing our own food, making our own clothes and all that other nonsense.
I am autistic and seem to understand the general public than a neurotypical at this point. Even if you could boycott every single business doing shady practices getting everyone else to expand that much energy is ridiculous. You would have to even boycott Costco which is one of the more reputable company's because they exploit prison labor and yet they shop there all the time. Not to mention how insanely impractical this is towards those with a budget who can't afford the super high-cost products that follow all the rules but jack up there prices beyond what they put into them. She does none of these things and yet preaches to me about doing it.
It is far more practical in my opinion through getting people informed about the right politicians and leaders looking to benefit society and to vote for these leaders who will enact laws that will force companies to pay fair share wages, there fair share of taxes, require unions or at the very minimum the right for a company to form a union, obey the ADA, provide accommodations for people of all needs, environmental impact, local community impact, affordable cost, higher quality of ingredients to make consumables healthier, contributions to various causes, worker benefits, etc.
Corporations have been a plaque on society causing more harm than good with the laissez faire economics and trickle down economics that robs the poor and working class while heaping riches all the privileged and spoiled. They don't pay their fair share in taxes and in fact, loot the government in subsidies whereas they turn around and charge the customer for the costs that were covered by tax dollars in the first place such as the EPI pen. Its time we stopped bashing our heads on the wall trying to boycott every single business that has its hands in the cookie jar and start getting people to vote because that is easier than convincing them to boycott 99% of corporations and return to Amish roots.
