I have noticed there are a lot of Autism family vlogs on YouTube. Fathering Autism in Florida and The Chapman Family in England are just a few of them. I will reserve my judgment about them considering I don't know them personally. However, I have wondered what people on this website think about these Autism family vlogs. I figured it would get a wide range of answers.

I have mixed feelings. On the one hand, I'm sure these videos can be of great comfort to other parents of severely disabled autistic children. On the other hand, if these kids ever develop enough to understand what YouTube is, they might feel that their privacy has been violated big time.

Also, some YouTube "autism parents" are better-informed than others. Some of them promote harmful misinfo such as anti-vax claims.

For some concerns by autistic rights activists about some of the more public "autism parents," see:

The only two Autism Parenting channels I have watched are The Chapman Family and FatheringAutism. They both seem like good people and more informed than some of the other blogs I've heard mentioned before. They seem to genuinely want what is best for their children and don't promote things like the anti vaccine agenda.

Autism aside I think parents these days too often violate their kid's privacy and use them to make statements. I know, lost cause on my part.

WOW. I'm happy my parents were never like these memes.

Yes, there are some aspects of a child's Autism that just shouldn't be publicly discussed in the way that some of these parenting bloggers do. Some Autism advocates say they shouldn't be publicly discussed at all. Toilet training is one of those subjects.

I'm subscribed to Fathering Autism, and I find them to be informational, while still respecting their autistic daughter (she has "low-functioning" non-verbal autism). One thing they said that really earned my respect was that they don't do stim-suppression. They do ABA therapy to teach their daughter life skills, which, in my opinion, is a good thing. They don't use it to try to make her look "normal", but rather to improve her quality of life.

Overall, Fathering Autism is a down-to-earth, good channel, with quality videos.

Yes, Abigail does have quite the personality. I love that Pricilla and Asa are direct when Abby misbehaves. However, they don't remain angry at her. Staying angry at your child is only going to want the child to do their disruptive sensory seeking behaviors more.

I find the whole "quiet hands" thing to be BS!
