Massachusetts bill aims to protect those with developmental disabilities.

The Massachusetts state house of representitives has unanimously approved a bill that would create a registry of those who abuse the disabled, the bill has already passed the state senate.

The bill requires the state's disabled persons protection commission to establish the registry, the registry is intended to prevent providers who have been credibly accused of abuse against people with developmental disabilities from moving from job to job.

Before a persons name is put on the registry, the individual would be notified and would be allowed to challenge the finding.
So the idea is to prevent habitual abusers from getting another care giver job after being fired from the last one for abuse.

I usually post things I read in the local news in the news forum but I felt this post more belonged in this forum due to the subject matter and I encourage discussion on this matter as something other states should adopt.

I know a few people who belong on a registry like that.
