Norwood,Massachusetts
When a Norwood cop attempted to stop a vehicle last week,it kept going, and the officer continued the pursuit.
But the incident didn't end with a arrest or citation, thats because officer Brett Baker recognized the signs of autism.
In this incident which happened 2:45pm last tuesday,Brooks said the driver was going the speed limit but kept going with lights and sirens behind it.When the driver made it to there house and got out of the car,the officer noticed the signs of autism and began speaking in a non threatening manner.
The drivers mother came out of the house and talked with the officer about what had happened,it's something parents of autistic children worry about, how they will handle and encounter with police.
Brooks said he wants parents to understand that while all sitiuations are different, autism training is becoming widespread among the police.
