Is Gordon Brown Aspergers?
Brown has been described as “dour and often awkward in public”. It has been claimed that Brown has "steamrolling persistence." and a "depth of knowledge that is phenomenal." Regarding Brown’s style of working, he has been described as "... the control freak's control freak.", "addicted to headline chasing", and a workaholic.

To have Aspergers means poor communication ability as a core symptom.
Gordon Brown is a politician who was UK prime minister for 3 years
He had to answer questions promptly and regularly to a high standard on tv and in parliament.
His big speech in the last days of the Scottish independence vote may have been decisive for remain.
Sure he looked dour compared to his side kick Tony b. LIAR but most other politicians did at that time in the UK.
Some people forget ASD autism or Aspergers is a DISABILITY What’s the point of diagnosis if it’s just a personality trait where people live normal lives.
Maybe he had a bit of BAP at most but BAP isn’t a neuro developmental disorder just a personality type with a few mild autistic traits but nothing that prevents them living a normal life.

I disagree. A number of autistic people have excellent communication skills. There may be some quirkiness to their delivery and manner though as viewed through a neurotypical lens I guess.
I do not believe autism to be a disability, I view it as a difference. I do not have a condition, affliction, disorder or disability. I am autistic.

I dont see how its possible to 'identify' him from his public persona and performances. He may be adept at masking, consciously or subconsciously, or not. The way he presents in public may be way different to how he is in his private life. At the end of the day unless he makes some form of public disclosure I doubt there is any way of knowing.

Those with or caring for Level 2/3 autism would disagree as would many aspies
But anyway back to GB, he had excellent communication and listenning skills, good eye contact, dated a princess, never had a mental crisis or meltdown, lasted 13 years at the top in the cut throat world of career politics, all despite being blind in one eye. One of his many friends said this about him:
He also had many enemies who were after his job and said alot of false negative things about him to make him look bad
Autism is a disability, it is diagnosed by its individual neural deficits, i.e what someone doesnt have not what they have instead. Its not an alternative personality type.

Well this 'aspie', his two 'aspie' daughters and significant number of 'aspie' and autistic people in his network dont disagree.
I was careful to use the term 'in my view' as opposed to quoting something as an absolute. How 'bout you?
Anyway, your entitled your opinion same as everyone else.

Who the heck is that guy?
And why does it matter?
Sorry I don't relate to the idea of role models and character identifications.
Regardless it does not matter if this person has one or thousands of autistic traits, disabling or not.
It mattered this person connected with the 'right people', is able to at least contact said people.
It's not a matter of social skills, not really -- social skills are just barely the quarter of it. It's what the person encounters and if they take it rightly.
Of course this does not resonate well with people plagued with anxieties.
And again, I don't relate well to said anxieties.

Gordon Brown was prime minister of the UK for a couple of years. I googled it and it does actually mention a possibility of him having Asperger's so I won't argue against it. I only get annoyed when people on WP seem so adamant about a famous person being on the spectrum when there is no mention of it anywhere to back it up, like with Cyndi Lauper.

I see.
I understand the need for representations and breaking attitudinal glass ceilings.
However.. People in general to do not understand the nature of bias and fallacies. But that's another topic for another day or thread.
Really, how much does it matter at all?
In the UK at least, does it actually affect representation?
Is it relevant at large -- politically and socially or this is just some mass personal consumption needs for assurance that said glass ceilings do not exists?

Not exclusively.
Dan Ackroyd
David Byrne
Greta Thunberg
Chris Packham
Josh Thomas
Daryl Hannah
Anthony Hopkins
Are all people with Asperger's diagnoses. All are capable of communicating well in interviews - you could argue they are famous for their ability to communicate generally.
Diagnosing anyone from their public persona is a risky business.

All of these are hardly to the same level of intensity communication requirement needed of a number 1 or 2 politician in the country, that has too undertake high pressure interviews and answer questions quickly, both to a large audience & parliament.
Greta Thunberg doesnt have great verbal communication skills, Ive seen Chris Packham mess up sometimes as he showed himself on a documentary about himself, Anthony Hopkins doesnt even think he`s autistic anymore and Dan Ackroyd & Daryl Hannah are minor actors that reads scripts and give short friendly low intensity interviews. The rest i dont know very well.
Even if an aspie person had very good communication skills, it would probably be over short bursts that would eventually & quickly cause burnout that would be very obvious in someone constantly in the public eye with no escape.
Many of us can do some socialising and passable masking but need long time out to recover, there would have been no time out for GB.
ASD symptoms are like water, you can push it down but the stress has to go somewhere, From 1996 to 2010 there was nothing that stands out appart from being difficult to work for sometimes, but many people can claim that about their boss.
