Elon Musk, owner of Twitter, promotes anti autism tweet

I have checked and this is true. Musk did retweet this anti autism tweet, Steve Silberman is not making it up. I'm sure this isn't the first time Musk has done this.

If you can't see this, it is photos. One with a man angry at someone wearing a t-shirt saying Protect Trans Kids. The other with a man happy at someone wearing a t-shirt saying Sterilize Autistic Kids.

One thing Elon Musk has repeatedly demonstrated is that he has the sense of humour of a 13-year-old boy. He often retweets the most banal memes in the name of humour. I think he probably thought this was funny because it is provocative and outrageous and, yes, hurtful to people more sensitive than he is.

His influence is depressing. I'm going to allow myself a sad sigh, then move on.

It's a meme therefore a joke , it might not be a funny joke but it is a joke.

I don't think it's an anti-autism meme either , it's a transphobic meme.

How is this "funny"? Even if it's in a meme image format, it's absolutely horrid. (I cannot open Twitter, not that I'd want to see the image)

The meme format is known as Drakeposting (The man in the image is the singer Drake).

Posting this meme doesn't mean you agree with what's actually seen or written, it is usually pointing out what the meme maker sees as hypocrisy.

Being interested in tech I kind of like musk.

But that t-shirt is pure hate, it’s not even a joke in the classical sense just a simple hate statement.

Someone took time, thought and effort to design, make and sell that t shirt.

Someone else thought it’s ok to wear it.

There's no defence of Musk's retweeting of this meme. No way to excuse it. He's also been retweeting other anti trans tweets, even though he has a trans child. I'm glad I moved off Twitter.

I don't have any love for Melon Husk. Bah.

I am very aware of the Drake meme format, and I have never seen it as someone pointing out hypocrisy. Now that I know what is in the image, all I can say is, IF EM was pointing out hypocrisy, it was incredibly tone deaf. What a nightmare.

It wasn't Musk's meme, I don't think he retweeted it, he did reply to it, is that the same thing? I have no idea what 'boosted' means in regard to a tweet - liked it,replied to it?

What the meme is trying to imply is that autistic children seeking gender transition are being exploited by medical professionals, and part of the transition process can include sterilization. Elon Musk appears to agree with this, and also believes that these children are just attracted to the same sex and are not transgender.

^ I'm not a mind reader either, so I'll be generous and say it could well be real ideas dressed up as a joke.

As for Neuralink, sign me up I'll give it a go. I'd be willing to risk that I may not be me any more without ASD if it solved my issues.

Another tweet by the same person, with a cartoon apparently based on the ancient Greek story of the Trojan horse, clarifies the intent. Seems to be claiming that allowing trans people to medically transition is just a sneaky way of sterilizing autistic people.

This is offensive on many levels, to both trans people and autistic people.
