I can't stand the fact that they make us look bad. I think that it is time to make our opinions of Autism Speaks known to the world! When i first heard about the things that they did to make us look bad only feeling emerged...hate. We should go to the media to let them know that we are not going to tolerait this trash! :x :ninja:

I figure rather than attack their desire for a cure or decide whether certain vaccines caused autism or not, the best way to reach the parents is to help them understand their children by sharing our personal stories and viewpoints.

That way in a non-threatening way I hope to encourage the parents involved that all hope is not lost and it isn't a death sentence if they find out their dear kid has been diagnosed.

In my honest opinion, that's the best anyone can do. That's what they need the most.

These parents honestly believe they are doing the best for their children, even if they may have been misguided. Instead of fighting, try sharing encouraging stories, how anyone has overcome daily struggles without the aid of a "cure".

I repeat, this is what they need most. The parents on the forums are hoping for understanding, and some kind words of encouragment. As people we can do our best to show them kindness even if we do not agree. I think being peaceful as possible but yet strong in our viewpoint, is the best kind of thing any of us can do to help break down some of the negative stigma about autism.

My real and true opinion of Autism Speaks could not be printed in a family newspaper, nor could my genuine opinion of FAAAS, Families of Adults Affected (they used to say "Afflicted" until Aspies finally and rightfully protested, among many other things they protested about it) by Asperger's Syndrome. Both of them are, quite simply, hate groups.

When I first started coming on here I couldn't understand why so many people here disliked Autism Speaks. Bit one day I was looking around on the forums, the amount of ignorance and stupidity was enourmous.

You think that's bad, take a look at FAAAS (Families of Adults Affected by Asperger's Syndrome) stuff. They're nothing but a hate group.

Misguided? I think they are stupid! They honestly believe they are doing the best? They are lazy!

They are too lazy to fight for acceptance and tolerance and think that it would be easier to just "cure" them! They are too stupid to realize how much harm and damage they are giving their children by believing that their personalities are a sickness that must be cured!

If there was a specific cause for any autistic trait, and a way to remove it (you can't reverse it, because they were born like that) and they force that "cure" upon children, I believe that most children would make themselves autists again by repeating the causes for it.

The best analogy I can think of is X-men 3, the way mutants fought against the cure the normal people were trying to impose. Few mutants took that cure and it was for the wrong reasons.
