This Sunday I will be giving a speech at an autism walk for five minutes and was trying to figure out the right things to say. I don't want to upset anyone or offend anyone and I want to try as best as possible to cover as much ground as possible. I want my speech to be something everyone with or without autism can resonate with and i don't know what to say. Can i get any help?

rule #1 of public speaking: You are going to piss somebody off. Get over it...

Not trying to be harsh, just reflecting on one of the cruel realities of life...

I have given several and can give these tips.

1. Personalize it. Don't generalize too much, but speak from your experience. This will give the most accurate information and touch their hearts.

2. Go from your experience to your desires. How ought autistic people be treated by society?

3. Be you. Don't either hide nor exaggerate your autism. Be natural and again, you wl touch hearts.

You will do just fine. And thank you!

I'm not sure, I would guess focusing on the positives is where I would start. There's too much negative publicity towards autism already.

I think nutbag has covered it pretty well! Just look up and look around so you aren't looking at the same place the whole time, be (or at least act) confident, speak from your heart about what you've gone through (people like other people's stories), you will be fine! And yeah, you'll always annoy someone but just ignore them; they aren't who you're aiming for anyway. :)
