First youtube video instance, well, I think I would be quite supportive of what the Police did if what that lad says is true. First problem, that they Police had, they had an aggressive/panic situation involving to main parties (the mother and the son). Second problem, they were on a road with traffic going by causing additional problems.

Then to make matters worse, the autistic son has one of these "tantrums" that sound more like brutal attacks upon people, and all hell broke loose. What do you do? Allow the lad to attack whoever he is attacking, put himself and others at risk with the passing traffic and also the danger of injuring other parties including themselves? Or do you restrain him and then have him under complete control?

The latter was clearly chosen, and as far as I am concerned I would do the same in the given situation. I would be surprised if the mother gets very far, as it sounds the Police operated exactly as they should have with the public safety in mind.

In relation the second video, I think it is a case of either wrong people being sent to restrain the person or just a great big 'cockup' all together. You may have noticed that the news reporter was saying a lot more than the (I presume father) man that they had interviewed. A perfect scenerio to allow Media Hype to slip in. For example, the quoted five minutes could easily have been one minute, but of course that wouldn't cause such a stirr would it?

I agree, especially since they only restrained him as they would've any person in that situation and didn't beat him or go beyond their boundaries or anything.
