why does Hollywood like to romanticize the mentally deficient? is it because everyone in Hollywood is insane?

It's because they can't understand us, so they film us, which shows us in a way that's sterile and detached from the reality of the accurate picture. They can't feel us, just as we can't relate to them. It's like a zoo that works both ways.

If they truly cared, they'd send all of the profits from such to help [all of the] people they make it after, but as is usual, people like making money off of other's disabilities, so they can...buy another car or something.

Of note, the character "Rain Man" isn't mentally deficient, he just has semantic problems (just have a look at his library; he knows it, he just can't communicate it verbally).
